With a history of over 80 years, Nexen is admired for its new-generation range of tires made for use on passenger cars, CUVs, SUVs, light trucks, EVs, and performance vehicles. The Nexen CP672 is the tire manufacturer’s all-season tire developed to offer a superior level of comfort, year-round traction, and quieter rides. It is made for use on passenger vehicles, coupes, sports cars, performance sedans, and SUVs, and features Nexen’s state-of-the-art technologies. In this Nexen CP672 tire review, we have covered the features and benefits, pros and cons, vehicle compatibility, and SimpleTire’s verdict to give a comprehensive analysis of the tire and help the purchasers in making a well-versed decision.

    Features and Benefits

The Nexen CP672 tire comes with various exceptional features that make it a great performer year-round. It is an all-season tire, and you would expect it to perform in dry, wet, and light winter conditions, but Nexen has made it more worthy for the commuters in various ways. So, let’s check out the features of this tire and see how they influence performance.

    • Quieter drives – The CP672 features an advanced variable pitch tread design that doesn’t let airwaves enter inside the tread area, thus offering quieter rides.
    • Better year-round performance – The tire’s symmetric tread design is optimized to provide better gripping ability in dry, wet, and light winter weather conditions. Additionally, the all-season rubber compound provides the required flexibility for the tire to adjust in both normal as well as mild winter climates.
    • Superior hydroplaning resistance – The CP672’s tread has four circumferential grooves that ease water evacuation and seamlessly disperse water and slush, thus resisting hydroplaning and offering better wet traction.
    • Longer service life – The squared edges and symmetric tread design of the Nexen CP672 are optimized to evenly spread the driving force across the tread. This prevents the tread from uneven wear and ensures increased tread life.
    • Responsive handling – The center rib and advanced shoulder design of the Nexen CP672 boost steering responsiveness and allow the driver to control and maneuver the vehicle better.
    • Better cornering – The solid shoulder blocks and sturdy sidewalls are engineered to absorb and proportionate the pressure during the turns and ensure confident cornering even at hairpin turns.

Nexen knows how to keep its customers happy, and that’s very much visible with the 70,000 miles limited tread life warranty offered on the purchase of the CP672. This tire is offered in 14- to 18-inch rim sizes and some of its tire sizes are given below:

    Pros and Cons

So, should you buy the Nexen CP672 or consider something else? To make things more easy for you, we have listed the CP672’s pros and cons, and then, have discussed the important points in our verdict.

    • Better handling on dry and wet surfaces.
    • Good at absorbing noise absorptions to offer comfortable drives.
    • More affordable than many of its counterparts.
    • Backed by an excellent 70,000 miles limited manufacturer tread life warranty.
    • Lasts longer than many of its competitors.
    • Impressive braking response in dry and wet conditions. Nexen has utilized its cutting-edge technologies in making this all-season tire exceptionally great in terms of performance, however, there are some drawbacks that may divide opinions.
    • Sluggish performance in snow.
    • Noisier than some of its peers.
    • Not designed for use in extreme winter conditions.

SimpleTire’s view on Nexen CP672 tires

If you’re looking for an all-season tire, especially for a coupe, sports car, or performance sedan, and affordability is one of the key considerations alongside good performance in dry and wet conditions, then the Nexen CP672 could be an ideal choice for you. This tire is engineered to offer superior comfort levels by absorbing road vibrations, however, it might be noisy, especially when driven on dry pavement at high speeds. It is covered by an excellent 70,000 miles limited manufacturer tread life warranty and lasts longer than many of its competitors. Likewise, the braking performance of this tire in dry and wet weather conditions is admirable.

That being said, this tire isn’t a great performer in snow and should also not be considered for use in moderate to extreme winter weather conditions, when the temperatures are falling below 45 degrees of Fahrenheit.

The Nexen CP672 competes against the likes of Firestone FireHawk A/S V2, Goodyear Assurance, Bridgestone Ecopia EP422, General Altimax RT43, Hankook Kinergy GT (H436) and Yokohama Avid Ascend.

Vehicles the Nexen CP672 is a good replacement tire for

Designed for use on passenger vehicles, coupes, sports cars, performance sedans, and SUVs, the Nexen CP672 could be a good replacement choice for vehicles like Kia Optima, Acura TL, BMW 3 Series, Audi A4, Cadillac ATS, Chevrolet Cruze, Dodge Avenger, Ford Fusion, Honda Accord, Hyundai Elantra, Infiniti G35x, Lincoln MKZ, Mazda5, Nissan Maxima, Subaru Legacy, Toyota Camry, Volkswagen Touareg, and Volvo S60.

Originally installed in Oct. 2017 on a 2003 Pontiac Grand AM GT, the tread has lasted (35K-ish miles later) and performance has degraded minimally due to normal use. Tire has not dry rotted or cracked - Feb. 2016 manufacture date at time of purchase (0716). Dry handling is good, road noise good, still have no slippage in wet conditions when taking off from an incline, squealing is gone when taking sharp curves, snow traction is still acceptable. Would purchase again!

I have not used them in winter yet. However as the tires have been excellent in performance so far, I expect them to have great performance there as well. I also must compliment the fast shipping after I placed the order. Thank you.

I put these tires on 2015 civic si and they handle great. These have the same tire ratings as the continental tires that come from factory at a cheaper price. Definitely recommend these tires to anyone who's looking for a bang for their buck.

'05 Scion XB 17" rims with 215/40/17 tires. This is my second set of the CP672! These aren't the best handling tires out there, but they handle well. They also arent the quietest tire out there but the noise level is minimal throughout the life of the tire. The best thing about this one, is the tread life! With my first set I was just over 60k! Hoping to maximize the use of this set as well!

These tires are actually decent. Tread life is still going strong. Not too much road noise. Grip is good. Haven't tried on snow yet.
