Founded over a century ago, Yokohama is an expert tire company that’s based out of Japan. One of the oldest and most respected tire brands in the world, Yokohama has been consistent in delivering a range of exceptional tires for all types of vehicles and specializes in all-season, ultra-high-performance, all-terrain, mud terrain, and winter tires. The durability and long tread life of tires is a specialty of Yokohama that has been continued in Geolandar X-CV, which is an all-season tire that’s designed for use on passenger cars such as CUVs, SUVs, and light trucks. However, do Geolandar X-CV tires provide a reliable and comfortable driving experience in all weather conditions? We’ll find out in this review.

    Features and Benefits

All-season tires are designed to offer drivers excellent traction year-round, which means they’re built for use in hot, wet, and cold weather conditions. They are also reliable in light snow conditions and are primarily driven on paved roads. As an all-season tire, Yokohama designed the Geolandar X-CV using the latest technology and a combination of 2D and 3D sipes that are focused on offering drivers reliable traction in every weather condition while also offering a long tread life. Let’s take a look at the detailed view of the features and benefits of the tire:

    • Superior Handling: The all-new tread pattern with a reinforced shoulder provides reliable and sure handling.
    • All-Season Grip: The all-season tread pattern and tire compound provide excellent traction in dry, wet, and light winter weather conditions.
    • Quiet Ride: The staggered tread pattern and five-pitch block variation reduces on-road noise.
    • Advanced Silica Compound: A formulated tread compound is designed to enhance dry weather stability and the end-locked polymer maintains pliability for tenacious wet and snow grip.
    • Robust Construction: The internal construction of the Geolandar X-CV is designed with a single-ply polyester casing that has a high turn-up for two-ply sidewalls. Also, the steel belts are reinforced using two nylon caps that aid in handling and to provide high-speed stability.

Available in 18 to 20-inch sizes, the Yokohama Geolandar X-CV tire offers an excellent manufacturer tread life warranty of 65,000 miles.

    Pros and Cons

So, should you buy a set of Yokohama Geolandar X-CV tires or look elsewhere? Let’s first break down the positives and negatives before putting our view in the end.

    • The tire offers superior handling using its new tread pattern with reinforced shoulder
    • Peace of mind as it comes with the manufacturer warranty of up to 65,000 miles
    • Quiet and comfortable driving experience with five-pitch block variation
    • A specialized silica compound for enhanced dry performance, stability, and a longer tread life

While Yokohama makes a good claim about Geolandar X-CV’s performance, some shortcomings may divide opinions.

    • Slightly more expensive than some competitor’s tires
    • Not ideal for use in moderate to severe winter weather conditions
    • Only available for SUVs, CUVs, and light trucks

SimpleTire’s view on Yokohama Geolandar X-CV tires

If you are looking for reliable traction and cornering stability with an all-season tire with an excellent tread life, the Yokohama Geolandar X-CV might be the right choice for you. The advanced silica compound and the combination of 2D and 3D sipes offers one of the smoothest driving experience in the category and Yokohama Geolandar X-CV performs similarly to the Continental CrossContact LX while offering a reliable driving experience.

Vehicles the Yokohama Geolandar X-CV is an OEM tire for

Commonly used on passenger vehicles such as SUVs, CUVs, and light trucks, Yokohama Geolandar X-CV can be found as an OEM tire on the Toyota Tundra and Nissan Rogue. It can also be used on vehicles such as the Toyota RAV4, Honda CR-V, Mazda CX-5, and more.

I felt like the most knowledgeable guy in the World when I bought these tires, but to be honest the site pointed me toward them using a simple process of elimination. How many miles would you like for warranty, type of driving habit, vehicle particulars etc. The tires have been nothing short of amazing ... I'm so happy with the ride. You know that you never realize just how terrible your tires are till you change them ... isn't that the truth. I'd recommend these tires to anyone who might ask. Yokohama have always built a sturdy tire that is tried and tested. I saved a little by buying during one of those gift card with purchase times of the year so that point just added to my glee.
