Yokohama Tire Corporation is the North American division of Tokyo, Japan-based Yokohama Rubber Co., Ltd, and they have led the tire industry in innovation and technology since entering the US market in 1969. Moreover, they own and run two cutting-edge manufacturing facilities as well as a research and development facility right here in the United States.
An all-season touring tire, the Yokohama Avid Touring-S is built for use on sedans, sport coupes, small crossovers, and minivans and meets all of the requirements for a versatile touring tire that can handle it all. Additionally, this all-season tire provides exceptional ride quality, stability, and dry and wet traction throughout the entire year on all types of passenger vehicles.
Read the Yokohama Avid Touring-S tire review from SimpleTire. Consider the tire's Pros and Cons before deciding if it is the best option for your car.
Features and Benefits
For all-season performance, the Avid Touring-S provides exceptional ride quality, stability, and dry traction. A contoured bead design results in a tighter bead-to-rim fit for better handling and a smoother ride.
The twin-rail stability rib improves straight-line stability and helps to reduce tire noise patterns as they roll on the road, while variable tread blocks, additional sipes, and a silent shoulder design reduces tire noise, resulting in a quiet and comfortable ride. The Avid Touring-S provides a peaceful and relaxing driving environment. Both the tire's sidewall inserts, which improve drive smoothness, and its reinforced internal structure, which includes twin steel belts, increase comfort levels.
For strong traction in wet and light winter weather, wide grooves in the tire's tread evacuate water. Due to the tread pattern's cross traction sipes and tapered rain channels, the tire reduced the risk of hydroplaning. While the traction sipes improve the model's wet and winter traction, the rain channels hasten the water's evacuation from beneath the footprint.
The luxurious sidewall construction of the Avid Touring-S is also noteworthy; even in low-profile configurations, this feature makes use of a tapered hard rubber insert to better absorb bumps and vibration. This prevents the tire from deforming and improves its handling, while also allowing for quicker steering response.
Pros and Cons
Should you choose Yokohama Avid Touring-S or should you look elsewhere? Before presenting our opinion at the end, let's first explore its advantages and disadvantages.

- Backed by a 65,000 mile limited manufacturer tread life warranty
- Tri-plex rubber compound to offer a much longer tread life
- Minimal noise and good steering response
Cons
- Traction on wet, snowy, and icy surfaces could be improved
- When driven erratically, the tire is less responsive than some tested tires of a similar design
SimpleTire’s view on Yokohama Avid Touring-S tires
The Yokohama Avid Touring-S is a great option if you're looking to purchase a capable all-season touring tire for passenger cars, CUVs, and Minivans. It's a good deal because it provides better ride quality, stability, quieter ride, and dry traction at a more affordable price than tires like the Cooper CS5 Grand Touring and the Firestone All Season
Vehicles the Yokohama Avid Touring-S is commonly used on
While the Avid Touring-S is not used as original equipment on any vehicles, it’s still a great replacement option for vehicles like the Nissan Sentra, Honda Odyssey, Toyota Camry, Ford Focus, Buick Regal, Chrysler Pacifica, and Chevrolet Cruze.
Conclusion
The Yokohama Avid Touring-S is a touring tire that can provide balanced performance and opulent levels of comfort at a reasonable price. If you need a tire that will roll quietly and comfortably and still provides adequate levels of traction and grip year-round, then the Avid Touring-S should be at the top of your list.

I just got these tires so I can't speak on treadwear or winter, etc. Noise level is pretty quiet - no street rumble sound but there is a bit of a tread growl. What I really don't like about these tires is the sidewall is super soft to the point that the front tires look flat under the weight of the engine. If I push the side of my car I can move it a good inch or two just from the sidewall flexing! You can imagine trying to drive a straight line is near impossible with these tires. Good cheapo discount tires, so yourself a favor and shell out for something better.

Love these tires so far. Nice and quite!
like them except so nois
I have had this same tire on two different vehicles and have been very satisfied with the performance both in the handling and the smooth ride. I am convinced that they are the best buy on the market today.
