Westlake Tires is one of the biggest tire manufacturers in the world, and they offer a wide range of tires for passenger, performance, light truck, SUV, and CUV applications. Performance, value, and quality are perfectly balanced in Westlake Tires thanks to their unwavering dedication to this goal.

The Westlake SU318 is an all-season tire that delivers reliable performance all year long. These are designed for use on CUVs and SUVs.

But, is this the best tire for your vehicle and your wallet? Let's take a look at a Westlake SU318 review to see if it's the right tire for you.

    Features and Benefits

All-season tires deliver consistent performance all year. There's also the added benefit of not needing to store or change different sets of tires. Westlake SU318 tires give solid traction on dry pavement, rainy roads, and snow-covered highways. You will find it easier to select them if you know their features and benefits:

    • Better all-season traction: To improve traction in dry, rainy, and light winter weather conditions, serrated siping cuts into the road to increase grip. Circumferential grooves improve lateral traction and handling for a smooth, comfortable, and responsive ride. As you drive through dry, wet, or snowy driving conditions all year long, the M+S rated tread and siping design provides improved all-season traction.

    • Reduced risk of hydroplaning: There are four wide grooves to drain water and slush from beneath the tire's imprint. This enhances wet traction and decreases hydroplaning.

    • Solid stability and responsiveness: Large, angled shoulder blocks increase stability and cornering responsiveness by putting more rubber on the road. It keeps a close contact with the road surface at all times, increasing steering responsiveness and stability.

In other words, the structure is stabilized against driving pressure, which influences the model, and the steering becomes faster and more precise in its response to the driver's directions.

The SU318 tire features a special Silica Tech construction and tread pattern that provides improved handling on both dry and lightly snow-covered roads.

    • Quiet and comfortable drive: The pattern of the tire and special type of wire helps to reduce the sounds from the road and increases the comfort of the ride. When the tires are moving, the variable pitch tread pattern decreases road noise.

Air waves are directed away from the tread components and through the tire footprint by the tread pattern. As a result, no road or tread pattern noise is produced when the tires are in motion, resulting in a quiet and comfortable ride.

    Pros and Cons

So, is it a good fit for your CUVs and SUVs? Before giving our final opinion, let's first look at its Pros and Cons:

    • All-season tread design to improve grip in dry, rainy, and light winter conditions
    • Backed by 50,000 mile limited manufacturer tread life warranty
    • Four wide grooves remove water and slush to reduce the risk of hydroplaning
    • Serrated siping to increase traction and provide a confident driving experience
    • Large, angled shoulder blocks to boosts stability and responsiveness
    • Variable pitch tread pattern to offer a quiet drive
    • Affordable

Despite having all of these features and benefits, the Westlake SU318 tire could be better in some areas, such as:

    • Not the best in moderate to heavy ice, slush, and snow
    • Should not be used off-road
    • Not the most fuel efficient tire

SimpleTire’s view on Westlake SU318 tires

If you're looking for a unique all-season tire, the Westlake SU318 is a good choice. In comparison to the Vercelli Strada I and Crosswind 4X4 HP, the Westlake SU318 provides equally good traction, handling, and performance all year.

The Crosswind 4X4 HP provides lesser mileage warranty and Vercelli Strada I provides more mileage warranty than Westlake SU318. Moreover, SU318 is less priced than both of the other tires. Overall, the Westlake SU318 is a better choice for an all-season tire due to the affordability and great performance.

Vehicles the Westlake SU318 is a good replacement tire for

The Westlake SU318 is ideal for SUVs and CUVs. Although, it is not used as original equipment, the Westlake SU318 is a great replacement tire for vehicles like the Ford Explorer, Hyundai Palisade, Nissan Pathfinder, Volkswagen Touareg, Hyundai Santa, Ford F-150, Toyota Venza, and Nissan Rogue.

Only had tires on suv for couple of months now but find a quiet ride and smooth considering the roads in PA are not the best to ride on.

They were supposed to be great for comfort and road noise but neither is true! They are very loud and do not ride smooth at all.

Just put these Westlake SU318 tires (275/45R19) on my 2010 VW Touareg to replace some very worn out Pirelli PZero tires. Huge reduction in road noise. On smooth streets, I barely hear any road noise. Definitely less road noise than the Pirellis. Have only driven a couple hundred of miles since installing, but dry and wet road handling seems to be very good and very comfortable ride. Huge snow storm last week and the tires worked fine in the snow and slush. I would recommend this tire for other SUVs. Last but not least, super great price thru SimpleTire. These cost me less than half the price had I gone with the Pirelli PZeros. Also, highly recommend using the installer option which makes for a quick and easy install from start to finish.

I've purchased all my tires here and haven't had any issues with anything, what I liked the most is that they are fast to ship off purchases!

Selling tires as part of being an auto dealer, I can say these tires are impressive. I purposely went out on a snowy/icy empty road to test them in a 2wd open diff truck and they did not slip under regular driving AT ALL. As with any tire if you push them, they will slide on ice but overall they have easily exceeded my expectations!! I was looking for a basic cheap A/S tire to just get this vehicle ready for sale and am happily surprised. Only have about 500 miles on them and it has been cold and snowy but they barely look worn at all. It is nice to be able to write a great review for once!
