  • Westlake SL369

If you’ve got a truck, Jeep, or SUV that’s equipped with four-wheel-drive and you have to occasionally go off-road, regular highway-terrain or all-season tires aren’t going to get the job done for you. You need a set of all-terrain tires that are durable enough to stand up to rough use, with a tread pattern that can handle mud, snow, gravel, or sand without getting bogged down.

Of course there are a lot of options for all-terrain tires for light trucks, at price points that range from pretty cheap to premium and expensive. In most instances, you’re getting what you pay for and it’s a caveat-emptoWestlake SL369r equation, but the Westlake SL369 delivers surprising performance and value for its price. It exhibits civilized behavior on the pavement along with tenacious grip, control and toughness offroad, for an excellent balance of dependable traction and good road manners on the street.

So in such a crowded category, what is it about this tire that makes it such a great value? Let’s have a look with this Westlake SL369 review.

    Features and Benefits

Westlake might not be a household tire brand just yet, but they know a thing or two about creating high-quality tires. The SL369 is no exception, and it features great technology for better performance on- and off-road.

    • Tread pitch is computer-tuned to generate white-noise frequencies that cancel road noise
    • Grooves and sipes are designed to enhance wet-weather grip with hundreds of hair-thin edges to bite into snow or slush or channel away standing water
    • Aggressive, stepped-block design delivers maximum traction on or off the pavement
    • Extra-rigid tread blocks with switchback groove pattern for better stability
    • Tiered edges and scalloped shoulder blocks enhance lateral traction for cornering or clawing out of ruts
    • Long-wearing, damage-resistant rubber compound and tread formulation for extra durability
    • Good self-cleaning of mud, stones, and debris from grooves so there’s always a clear section of tread to dig in as the wheel turns
    • Reinforced internal construction for strength and durability
    • M+S rated for mud/snow traction
    • Backed by a 40,000 mile limited manufacturer tread life warranty

    Pros and Cons

So, is this the right tire for you and your budget? Before deciding whether or not to buy Westlake SL369 tires for your ride, let’s look at the tire’s strengths and weaknesses:

    PROS:

    • M+S rated for mud/snow traction
    • 40,000 mile limited manufacturer tread life warranty
    • Great off-road traction with good ride quality and handling on pavement

    CONS:

    • Not great for deep, heavy mud
    • Not the most fuel efficient tire
    • Ride comfort could be better

SimpleTire’s view on Westlake SL369 tires

    Westlake SL369

Nobody who has a 4WD equipped truck or SUV wants to get in trouble if they go off-road, but nobody really wants a tire that’s noisy and clumsy on the pavement either. The Westlake SL369 is such a great candidate for an all-terrain tire because it can get you through offroad conditions with ease while still being great for daily driver duties and commuting.

Westlake might not be a go-to name for a lot of drivers, but the company has been around since 1972 and continues to offer top-quality tires at affordable prices. This tire’s tread pattern and sipe design really enhance traction on or off-road, it’s surprisingly quiet on the pavement (as all-terrain tires go), and the M+S rating gives you peace of mind in the winter months. The rigid construction and tread block design means minimal tread squirm and great handling on the highway. The 40,000 mile warranty on the SL369 means added value and reflects on how confident Westlake is in this tire’s durability and performance. Don’t be put off by the Westlake SL369’s budget price – this is a serious do-it-all tire for street or dirt.

Ran BFG's and General previously, but the prices have been out of hand. I had to look for something new. The Westlake met all expectations. I was very impressed. I got about 30k+ out of this set. That is a little on the soft side, but traction was great.

These are on a Ford Excursion 4WD, daily driven often pulling and hauling. They definitely don't last beyond their claimed mileage by any means but they make it (barely) if you're willing to really thin that tread down before replacing them. Also, watch your speed, they're not much in the speed rating dept. and will deform/separate if you exceed it. Otherwise, the perform plenty well enough for normal use and occasional abuse under my already very heavy vehicle. These are my second set, I'll probably buy them again next time.

Simple Tire helped me out big time when I was in a crunch! I was on vacation about 10hrs away from home and they overnighted 2 very specific tires! There was no way I could safely drive without them. Can't say thank you enough! Awesome service and I would recommend them to anyone looking for tires.

These tires are great so far. I've had them for about 300 miles and they are quiet, grip to the ground in wet and dry, and are not noisy. Price was right and we shall see how they hold up but so far so good!

These are the best tires I have ever had on any of my utility trailers and the price is great. Discount Tire couldn't even come close to the price.

Got these from a local shop and was impressed with the overall performance and the value! Went on a 2,000 mile road trip from California to Utah and Arizona, and these tires were great! We were in a mild snow storm while in Arizona, kicked the truck into 4Hi and never skipped a beat. Can't wait to try these out on our local trail to see how they do. I'm hoping these will last long, but when the time comes to get a new set, I'll be getting these again!
