It designs, produces, and exports commercial and consumer tires for passenger vehicles, light trucks, agricultural and industrial equipment, as well as buses, in over 130 countries.

However, can this rugged-terrain tire offer the desired performance for your SUVs and light trucks? Let's have a look at the features and benefits, pros and cons, SimpleTire's thoughts on the Prinx HiCountry R/T HR1, and which vehicles it's a good fit for.

    Features and Benefits

Rugged-terrain tires are built for adventure and provide reliable performance in off-road conditions. A rugged-terrain tire, the Prinx HiCountry R/T HRT’s durable tread design provides aggressive off-road capability without losing on-road manners. Let’s see its features and benefits:

    • Aggressive traction: The Prinx HiCountry R/T HRT has an aggressive tread pattern, while the blocks' biting edges provide a stronger grip on rough, rocky, and uneven surfaces. Two- and three-step blocks, which have additional biting edges improve traction and stability in off-road conditions. scalloped shoulders and various aggressive components on upper sidewalls boost traction on soft and loose surfaces.
    • Enhanced mud and debris extraction: Mud rippers located between shoulder tread blocks provide further mud and debris extraction while the mud movers in the middle tread blocks assist in eliminating mud and debris. In addition, its opposing rough sidewall designs not only provide appearance choices but also extra protection from rocks and debris during off-road trails.
    • Improved handling: The Prinx HiCountry R/T HR1 features an enhanced tread design for improved handling. Its blocks increase driving stability and on- and off-road steering precision in response to driver commands while its shoulder elements aid in navigating the paved roads and diverse terrains. Lastly, its blocks include a wider rubber area for braking and several biting edges for cornering.
    • Studdable: It can be pinned with TSMI #15 studs (where permitted) for improved grip on icy and snowy roads.

    Pros and Cons

Let's take a look at its advantages and disadvantages:

    PROS:

    • Backed by a 50,000 mile limited manufacturer tread life warranty

    • Mud-rippers and mud movers enhance mud and debris removal
    • The rugged sidewall design gives great looks and offers additional protection from rocks and debris

At first, I was skeptical of buying a lesser-known brand than I am accustomed to owning, but after now having them for a while I can honestly say that I am happier with these tires than many I have owned in the past. I have bought Firestones, Goodyears, and others but for me, these are hands down the best tires I have ever owned. They ride, corner, and feel so well that I am completely comfortable and confident in them in every driving situation I experience, be it pavement, gravel, dirt, or whatever. A big thanks to Kelly at Simple Tire for the outstanding customer service throughout many days of me searching and asking questions about various brands and tires. You truly made the experience a comfortable and confident one for me, and not just because we share the name :)

Ive only ran these tires for 1K miles but so far so good! I have taken them on a few trails and had no traction issues, no issues driving on wet roads, not sure about winter as its just starting and we dont get much snow in SC. Road noise is minimal for these types of tires, I can barely hear them. Will definitely buy another set when these are done!

Got these about 5k miles ago. They were really hard to get to balance. I get a nice shake when i go 75mph. They spin on wet concrete and dont do great in sand. I should have spent extra money and got a better brand. i would not buy these again for my ram 2500.

Tires balanced out well. They aren't too loud, they're round, and they're black.
