Replaced the OEM Michelin tires with the new Scorpion AS-4's, on a 2023 Hyundai Tucson Hybrid Limited. (235/55/R19 w/ 101H rating) The OEM's developed cracks on the sidewalls. The AS-4's run really quiet and give a smooth ride, absorb potholes better, and get just a little better mpg, which were my major criteria. This tire came out on top for noise, comfort, and overall handling, control and braking for year-round driving in Denver, from the research I was able to find. (Typically, mostly dry roads, some rain, and usually not horribly snow-packed roads.) They weren't the cheapest, but safety and comfort outweigh that criteria. Considering we rack up less than 8,000 miles a year, I expect them to last us at least 5 to 7 years. Quiet! Comfortable! Responsive Control! Exactly as advertised.

Features and Benefits
Typically, highway touring all-season tires built for CUVs, SUVs, and light trucks are designed and engineered to offer smooth rides with controlled tread noise. Their pattern and construction are such that they control wear rate and promote longevity. The Pirelli Scorpion AS 4 also fulfils these expectations with its array of innovative features and corresponding benefits. Let’s learn about them:
- Exceptional tread life – The Scorpion AS 4 features a symmetrical tread block pattern with uniform pattern stiffness that manages weight and pressure distribution across the footprint to reduce the chances of irregular wear and offer a lasting service. Likewise, the next-generation polymer tread compound is also tuned to prevent premature wear.
- Crisp steering response and confident handling – The tire's reinforced polyester casing, along with sturdy twin steel belts and polyamide cap plies, keeps the tire in its original shape to provide enhanced stability even if the vehicle is used for heavy cargo towing. Its optimized rubber compound boosts braking and cornering performance.
- Quieter and vibration-free rides – The optimized pitch sequencing of this tire keeps the noise levels in control, and the advanced compound absorbs the vibrations to provide a premium feel inside the cabin.
- Excellent traction and grip year-round – With multiple integrated sipes across the contact patch, the Scorpion AS 4 gains outstanding surface-biting ability. Whether you are driving on slick, wet, or mild snowy surfaces, these sipes establish contact with the surface to provide continuous driving confidence. The advanced all-season rubber compound of this tire also provides pliable grip in different temperatures, and the four wide longitudinal grooves evacuate water and slush from the contact patch to avoid the risk of hydroplaning in the rainy season.
- Covered by an impressive mileage warranty – Pirelli’s confidence in making outstanding tires is also seen in the Scorpion AS 4, as it is covered by a 70,000 mile limited manufacturer tread life warranty.
The Pirelli Scorpion AS 4 is offered in 17- to 22-inch rim sizes. Some of its popular sizes include:

SimpleTire’s view on Pirelli Scorpion AS 4 tires
If you are looking for a high-end touring all-season tire that offers long-lasting durability and enhanced ride comfort, then the Scorpion AS 4 is something worth considering. With a near-perfect 9.9 SimpleScore in longevity, it assures lasting service. This is further attested by its excellent 70,000 mile limited manufacturer tread life warranty. The tire is also outstanding on the traction front, where it scores an impressive 9.2 SimpleScore.
Specifically, its wet traction abilities are class-apart, and you would feel complete control while driving in rainy conditions. Even on the controllability part, it won’t disappoint as it earns an exceptional 9.1 SimpleScore rating for the same. The wide and flat footprint provides confident steering response and high-speed stability, while the advanced tread pitch sequencing keeps the noise and vibration levels low.
That being said, the Scorpion AS 4 is not suitable for driving in moderate to severe winter weather conditions, in temperatures below 45 degrees Fahrenheit, as it is not Three Peak Mountain Snowflake approved. Another downside of this tire in comparison to some of its peers is that it comes at a slightly higher price.
