Founded in 1942 in South Korea, Nexen Tire utilizes state-of-the-art technologies to make reliable and eco-friendly products. In the United States, Nexen’s portfolio includes all-season, winter, all-terrain, mud-terrain, ultra-high-performance, and various other types of tires that cater to the needs of American customers.

The Nexen Roadian GTX is a touring all-season tire designed for crossovers and SUVs to offer comfortable rides and long-lasting performance. Utilizing Nexen’s next-gen technologies, the Roadian GTX is optimized to offer superior traction and grip in most conditions and the tire is also claimed to perform very well on long tours.

But is the Nexen Roadian GTX a right choice when you need a tire that’s made for all four seasons and engineered to serve in the city as well as on long highway drives? Let’s find out in this Nexen Roadian GTX review.

    Features and Benefits

The Nexen Roadian GTX is a typical all-season tire designed for use on CUVs and SUVs and has better touring capabilities that make it worthy enough for highway use. It offers year-round traction, a comfortable ride, and increased mileage. Nexen’s state-of-the-art technologies have ensured that the Roadian GTX can run year-round while also offering superior comfort, performance, and wear resistance.

The Roadian GTX features a special polymer that reduces tire deformation to ensure increased tread life and durability. The unique rubber compound of the tire features technical carbon and a long molecular chain for increased wear resistance. Likewise, the multiphase polymer used in the rubber compound augments braking performance in different climate conditions.

The wider tread pattern of the Roadian GTX in conjunction with zigzag grooves evenly distributes the contact patch pressure for improved handling response in case of an emergency. Thanks to the longitudinal sipes running through the tread blocks, the Nexen Roadian GTX can seamlessly maneuver and stay stable at higher speeds.

The tilt-angled grooves and sipes of the Road GTX are optimized to ensure tread block robustness, which minimizes uneven wear. The unique pattern of grooves and sipes provide better braking performance on snow and dry pavement, while also ensuring a smooth ride in any season.

The Nexen Roadian GTX is available in 17 to 22-inch rim sizes and is covered by a 70,000 mile limited manufacturer’s tread life warranty. The tire is also covered under Nexen’s Total Coverage Warranty, which includes road hazard warranty for up to 3/32” of the tread or 2 years from the date of purchase and roadside assistance of 36 months.

    Pros and Cons

Is the Nexen Roadian GTX worth buying or should you consider something else? Let’s have a look at the pros and cons before putting our view in the end.

    • The optimized tread compound reduces the chances of deformation and ensures longevity.
    • A wide and unique tread pattern improves handling and high-speed stability.
    • Patented technologies ensure solid year-round traction and braking performance.
    • Peace of mind as it comes with a 70,000 mile limited manufacturer tread life warranty
    • Reasonable price point and solid performance on long tours.

While Nexen claims of the Roadian GTX’s commendable performance in all four seasons, some shortcomings might divide opinions.

    • Not made for extreme winter weather conditions.
    • Not as good as its peers on wet roads.
    • Braking performance could be better.

SimpleTire’s view on Nexen Roadian GTX tires

If you need a reasonably priced tire that offers good traction, a smooth ride, and long-lasting durability, the Nexen Roadian GTX is one of the best bets. Most importantly, the tire is backed by an excellent warranty and road assistance program. It is an ideal choice for most CUVs and mid-size SUVs and ensures a smooth and reliable ride. However, it may disappoint those who look for an all-season tire that rates high in snow and wet weather performance.

The Roadian GTX is a great offering against the likes of Hankook Dynapro HP2 (RA33), Kumho Crugen Premium KL33, Falken Ziex CT60 A/S, and General Altimax RT45.
