Crossovers, SUVs, and (to a lesser extent) minivans are everywhere on the road today – to a large degree, they’ve taken over the part of the automotive market that used to be headed up by family sedans and station wagons. Not surprisingly, there are dozens (if not hundreds) of all-season tires available for this class of vehicles, at every price point. Most are a caveat emptor, “you get what you pay for” proposition, but the Multi-Mile Wild Trail Touring CUV is a tire that delivers value and performance far above expectations for its price.
So what is it about the tire that makes it such a great value in an all-season tire? Let’s go in for a closer look with this Multi-Mile Wild Trail Touring CUV review:
Features and Benefits
There are plenty of things to like when it comes to the Multi-Mile Wild Trail Touring CUV tire:
- Durable construction and a long-lasting rubber compound to help drivers get more miles out of their purchase
- Circumferential and angled grooves boost traction by evacuating water from the tire’s contact patch to avoid hydroplaning in wet weather
- Tread pitch is randomized and computer tuned to cancel frequencies and keep road noise to a minimum
- Road manners and ride quality are excellent
- Backed by a 40,000 mile limited manufacturer tread life warranty
Pros and Cons
So, is this the right tire for your ride and budget? Before you decide, let’s take a look at the tire’s pros and cons.
PROS:
- Affordable price point
- Dependable traction year-round in changing weather conditions
- Handling and cornering are predictable and solid
- Generous tread life warranty
- Good all-around value for long interstate trips or daily commutes
- Wide range of sizes for various crossover and minivan fitments
CONS:
- Should not be used in moderate to severe winter weather conditions
- Not good for off-road driving
- Fuel efficiency could be better
SimpleTire’s view on Multi-Mile Wild Trail Touring CUV tires
Multi-Mile is a proprietary brand of TBC Corporation, a wholly-owned subsidiary of Sumitomo Rubber. TBC also carries tires from brands like Eldorado, Sailun, and Greenball, among many others. We’ve been impressed with the Multi-Mile brand in general, and the Wild Trail Touring CUV is no exception. Now admittedly, the “Wild Trail” branding is a bit of a misnomer – this is an all-season tire that’s designed for pavement and not off-road, but it does quite well on the pavement.
Road manners, roadability, and handling properties are consistent and dependable, ride quality is pretty forgiving, even on irregular pavement, and the Wild Trail Touring CUV is quiet at highway speed (although not as quiet as a Grand Touring tire). We’re impressed with this tire’s affordability, too - it’s a great prospect if you’ve got an older high-mileage crossover that you don’t want to spend $1200 on when it’s time for a set of tires. This is a tire that’s equally competent when you’re taking the family on a long road trip or if you just need to get back and forth to work and drop off the kids at school.
No, the Multi-Mile Wild Trail Touring CUV doesn’t do well in deep snow, but that’s not really what it's designed for. It does do quite well, however, on rainy pavement or in light snow, with a rubber compound that’s designed to stay flexible and deliver traction even in subfreezing weather. It’s also nice to know that there are enough sizes available with the Wild Trail Touring CUV that you’re almost certain to find one that’s a good fit for your ride.
