  • Maxxis Razr MT-772

Over the course of its more than 50-year history, Maxxis International has been committed to manufacturing tires that riders and drivers can rely on for quality and performance. Today, Maxxis manufactures tires for cars, light trucks, ATVs, motorcycles, trailers, and other uses. The manufacturing capability of Maxxis enables it to serve customers all over the world.

The Maxxis Razr MT-772 is a mud terrain tire that offers off-road traction and performance. These are designed for use on Jeeps, light trucks, and SUVs.

But, is it the best tire for your vehicle and your budget? Let's take a look at a Maxxis Razr MT-772 review to see if it's the right tire for you.

    Features and Benefits

A mud-terrain tire is designed for more difficult and extreme off-road conditions, such as mud, snow, sand, and the like. These tires often have deeper treads and larger sidewalls to help grip the most slick and dangerous weather conditions. If you take your vehicle off-road on a regular basis, learning the features and benefits of this tire will benefit you.

    • Enhanced mud-terrain traction: Enhanced off-road, soft, and loose terrain traction is a result of the aggressive tread pattern and tougher structure. They boost the tire's off-road traction, along with the high void ratio and excellent shoulder tread pattern. Deeply sculpted center blocks maximize off-road traction and performance while the shoulder pattern promotes side bite when driving through deep muck or loose dirt.
    • All-season tread pattern: A long-lasting compound and symmetric tread design improve dry, rainy, and winter road grip.
    • Improved durability: By preserving the optimal tire form, the reinforced dual-cord casing ply improves load and driving durability. A strategic sidewall design boosts traction and puncture resistance to enhance durability. Furthermore, intertwined reinforcement fibers in the Maxxis dual-cord casing significantly increase casing strength for greater toughness and longevity.
    • Better damage resistance: The structure of the chemical filler compound and the distinctive sidewall design prevent damages to the casing. Moreover, tread composition offers resistance to chips and punctures and is designed for extensive wear.
    • Self-cleaning tread: The self-cleaning tread design of the tire removes dirt and snow while also ejecting rocks caught between the tread sections. For reliable traction and performance, stone and mud ejectors within the tread increase self-cleaning capability and reduce rock retention.
    • Longer tread life: Even pressure distribution for the best ground contact greatly extends tread life and tire use. In all weather conditions, they keep the tire in its ideal form despite the driving pressure that affects it. As a result, the tire is more durable and does not distort when being driven. Additionally, they help to stabilize the tread area, which keeps the tread components from moving. Tire is more cost-effective because the stable tread region extends the tread life and tire usability by preventing uneven wear from occurring over the tread area.

    Pros and Cons

So, is it a good fit for your Jeeps, light trucks, or SUVs? Before giving our final opinion, let's first look at its Pros and Cons:

    • Aggressive tread pattern to improve off-road traction
    • Backed by a 40,000 mile limited manufacturer tread life warranty, a rarity in the segment
    • Sidewall design to increase sidewall traction and puncture resistance
    • Dual-cord casing to improve durability
    • Tread compound with chemical fillers maximize tread life
    • Stone and mud ejectors enhance self-cleaning performance while reducing stone retention.
    • Deeply sculpted center blocks to maximize traction and puncture resistance

The Maxxis Razr MT-772 tire might be improved in various areas despite having all of these benefits and advantages, such as:

    • A bit noisier than other tires
    • On-road performance could be better

SimpleTire’s view on Maxxis Razr MT-772 tires

If you're looking for a distinctive mud-terrain tire, the Maxxis Razr MT-772 is a great option. When compared to the Vercelli Terreno M/T and the Crosswind M/T, the Maxxis Razr MT-772 offers superior traction, handling, and performance all year long.

Despite being somewhat more expensive than the Vercelli Terreno M/T and the Crosswind M/T, the Maxxis Razr MT-772 provides superior performance and mileage. On the other hand, Vercelli Terreno M/T and Crosswind M/T do not provide mileage. Overall, the Maxxis Razr MT-772 is a fantastic choice for a mud-terrain tire due to its exceptional performance and mileage.

Vehicles the Maxxis Razr MT-772 is a good replacement tire for

Even though it is not used as original equipment, the Maxxis Razr MT-772 is a great replacement tire for vehicles like the Jeep Cherokee, RAM 2500, GMC Sierra 3500, Jeep Wrangler, Toyota Tundra, Ford F-350, and Jeep Gladiator.

Bought my first set for my jk Rubicon sized in 35s they worked great off-road, ended up with them on my new jt Rubicon tool going with them in the 37?--12.50r17. And likely won't change to another tire any time soon. Definitely recommend.

As the title states, I'm at 14k miles and less than a year. They wore evenly, rode quiet, and still ride smooth.... But the tread is done. Nothing left.

After the first 1k miles these tires are holding up well. A little bit of road noise as can be expected from a mud tire.

Replaced some falken ats and bfg ko2s with these on two Jeeps. Look awesome , winter traction outstanding, off-road great. Built tough, razor blade didn't puncture, found one stuck in knobbie. There's some tire road noise, but to be expected. A little rough below 10 mph , but it's grown on me I kinda like it, makes you feel like your driving something special. Lol! 2021 Jeep Wrangler rubicon xtreme recon.

These replaced a set of Nitto Trail Grappler M/T's on my 2014 Tundra. (285/65R18). I am very impressed with these tires after about 1k miles. I always had a slight steering wheel "wobble" at highway speeds with the Nitto's (after two alignments and having them balanced three times). Had the Maxxis balanced/installed and not a hint of wobble. Do not have enough miles on them to comment at tread life, but overall very happy with these. Highly recommend.

I do not recommend these tires for any diesel trucks. They are loud, wander all over the road, and don't provide the best traction compared to other brands. These tires perform there best in mud, but still not impressed or as good as some other brands. I can only speak from a diesel truck standpoint. I had Toyo open country M/T before. And I would have to say in my application, Toyo M/T out performs the Maxxis Razr M/T. Both tires I ran were 35x12.50r18 128q.

Impressed with ride quality for the tire size. I put 37x12.50 on a F-350. Very smoot ride. Not had long enough for tread wear. Love them so far. Especially for the price!

Good tires. They get around good, aren't noisy, and last.
