Most drivers of sedans, minivans, coupes, crossovers, and light trucks do best with an all-season tire. Why is an all-season tire the best bet? All-season tires allow for consistent traction and performance in dry, wet, and light winter weather conditions while also offering a quiet, comfortable ride.

The Kumho Solus TA31 really checks all those boxes, and it’s become a favorite of drivers everywhere. Is this the right all-season tire for your vehicle? Let’s break it down in this Kumho Solus TA31 review.

    Features and Benefits

All-season tires need specific features and functionalities to perform year-round. Fortunately, this Kumho tire has a lot of technology that increases its performance.

    • Longitudinal grooves, lateral notches, and sipes deliver year-round traction even in light snow and slush
    • Durable, long-wearing tread formulation for a longer service life
    • Continuous center rib boosts straight-line stability, road manners, and steering response
    • Twin steel belts with spiral-wound nylon cap layer for high-speed stability and ride comfort
    • Tread pitch is computer tuned for low noise
    • Backed by a 60,000 mile limited manufacturer tread life warranty
    • Wide shoulder blocks enhance handling properties and even wear

    Pros and Cons

With a do-all tire like the Kumho Solus TA31, there aren’t that many cons, but plenty of pros:

    Pros:

    • Stable, responsive handling
    • Luxurious ride quality and low noise
    • Generous treadwear warranty
    • Wide range of sizes for various fitments

    Cons:

    • Could be better in heavy winter snow

SimpleTire’s view on Kumho Solus TA31 tires

Kumho is one of South Korea’s premier tire makers; while they might still not be as common of a name in the United States as some of the other brands, they’re fast making inroads. The Solus TA31 is affordable and a strong performer all the way around, with the kind of year-round traction most drivers need and expect and ride quality that rivals some of the best competition. Some of the folks on our team have Kumhos on their daily drivers and love them, so you have a little bit of real-world testimonial to go on as well. We really feel that you can’t go wrong with the Solus TA31 or with any tire from Kumho’s Solus line.

Vehicles the Kumho Solus TA31 is an OEM tire for

Kumho is quickly growing in the original equipment segment, and the Solus TA31 is just another example of that. If you own a 2016 Chevrolet Spark, 2016 Kia Rio, 2021 Hyundai Elantra, 2017 Kia Forte, 2022 Volkswagen Jetta, 2017 Chrysler Pacifica Minivan, or a few other vehicles, then your ride left the factory with a set of Solus TA31 tires attached.

I would definitely recommend Simple Tire. I found the exact same replacement tires for my Pacifica Touring L Plus on their website with ease. They also make finding an installer easy too. The price couldn't be beat, and the simplicity factor was super high. I will be recommending this place to all my friends. My husband was impressed and will be using them when the time comes to replace tires on his vehicle. Thank you, Simple Tire!

I have had my tires for 2 years now & they are still holding. We haven't had much snow in the last 2 years so thats my reasom for rating it a 3. The tires ride smooth & not a lot of noise on the highway.

They are good tires as it is my second set. The first one came with my KIA SOULS car and it l lasted over 50k miles. Still ok to drive, however, I bought the second set. I believe this tire lasted longer than my previous TOY Camry. The price is low too.

I'm in the central valley of California so I can't give a winter assessment, but the tires seem great in every other way. Noise is non-existent, and dry traction seems excellent.

These tires came stock on my 2019 Hyundai Sonata Hybrid. Very quiet and comfortable ride with great fuel efficiency. Tire wear has been fantastic with regular tire rotation. 61K so far with a hair more life remaining. These tires are decent in wet conditions but did not fair the greatest in snow and ice. Could contribute that to wear this year. More than likely to buy another set soon.
