  • Kenda Tires was founded in 1962 in Yanlin, Taiwan and initially only produced bicycle tires before introducing a range of motorcycle, scooter, and lawn and garden tires in the 70s. The brand forayed into the USA in 1991 in Ohio and introduced a line of radial passenger car tires in 2001. Now Kenda offers a range of passenger, light truck, farm, industrial, lawn & garden, ATV/UTV, golf, and trailer tires.

The Kenda Bearclaw is a utility tire designed for ATVs, UTVs, and SxS. In this Kenda Bearclaw review, we will take a look at some of the features and benefits of the tire, its pros and cons, and SimpleTire’s views on the tire.

    Features and Benefits

ATV/UTV Tires are designed for use on challenging terrains and generally feature an aggressive tread pattern that boosts traction and grip on loose surfaces. Additionally, as these tires are not driven majorly on smooth surfaces, they feature durable construction to protect them from accidental damage. ATV/UTV tires are specialty tires and are designed with strong sidewalls.

The Kenda Bearclaw is designed to deliver reliable performance on off-road applications and features several elements that add to the value and performance of the tire. Here are some of the notable features and benefits of the tire.

    • Durable construction: Damage-resistant tread compound for enhanced durability and protection against cuts, chips, and abrasions.
    • Enhanced stability: The wide footprint of the tire enhances stability while fending off uneven tread wear.
    • Improved handling: The directional, angled lug tread improves overall traction and handling performance.
    • Robust construction: The tire features a reinforced construction that increases tire strength and durability, while the built-in rim guard helps protect the wheel from sidewall damage.

The Kenda Bearclaw comes with a 6-ply rating and long-range tread compound. The Bearclaw is available in a variety of tire sizes ranging from 8 to 12 inches.

    Pros and Cons

Now that we know more about the features and benefits of the Kenda Bearclaw, let’s also look at some of the pros and cons of the tire to help you make a more informed decision.

    PROS:

    • Durable construction with various elements that ensure protection against accidental damage.
    • Enhanced wet and dry grip for consistent traction on different terrains.
    • Designed to offer a comfortable ride along with a strong winter performance.

While these pros make a good case for the tire, also consider these cons.

    CONS:

    • The tires can be a bit noisy on off-road terrain.
    • The tread can wear off irregularly.

Simple Tire has outstanding price, quality, and remarkable service. I ordered online and my tire was waiting at my front door at the start of the 3rd day. When I worked at the wastewater plant, we would have to wait several weeks to get the same tire through a commercial tire company. The Kendra tires are 6 ply and the one that finally died probably had 20 years of service life on dike banks and gravel. Ride noise, ride handling, and winter traction are not really applicable in my application but I would rate winter traction as a 5 based on mud. Because of the 25" rim and 6 ply rating, I used a bead blaster to seat the beads which was to be expected.
