    Features and Benefits

All-season tires are specially optimized to perform in different weather conditions, primarily dry, wet, and light snow. These tires allow you to use a single set of tires year-round, without worrying about swapping the current set with a new one with the arrival of summer or winter. The Wrangler SR-A also comes with abilities and has many impressive features that help in achieving outstanding performance year-round. Let’s take a look at them:

    • Superior year-round traction – The Wrangler SR-A’s tread features zigzag microgrooves for enhanced traction in rain, snow, and ice. The presence of wide circumferential grooves forces water out of the contact patch for improved traction in rain. Thanks to the presence of proprietary TredLock microgrooves, there are multiple biting edges for enhanced wet traction.
    • Outstanding steering response – The TreadLock technology, along with detailed sipes and a wider footprint, provides optimum stability and boosts cornering grip. The presence of sipes and sharper tread block edges ensures solid braking performance. The tire’s ability to resist hydroplaning, contributed by wide circumferential grooves, ensures confident handling in rain.
    • Long-lasting tread life – The Wrangler SR-A puts more rubber on the road for a long-lasting tread life and features an optimized pattern that promotes even and longer wear. Thanks to Goodyear’s robust inner construction technology, the Wrangler SR-A maintains its optimum strength and stays in shape for an even pressure distribution across the tread for longer service.
    • Backed by great tread life warranty – The Wrangler SR-A is offered with a 50,000 mile limited manufacturer tread life warranty, assuring the best return on investment.

The Wrangler SR-A is available in 15- to 20-inch rim options. Some of its offered sizes include:

    Pros and Cons

With key features of the Wrangler SR-A explored, let’s now take a look at the tire’s positives and negatives:

    • Backed by a 50,000 mile limited manufacturer tread life warranty
    • Engineered and designed for long-lasting tread life
    • Confident handling and cornering performance year-round
    • Reasonable, looking at the top-tier tire pricing
    • Optimized for hydroplaning resistance for increased wet grip and ride control
    • Better braking performance than many of its peers

    CONS:

    • Not suitable for use in moderate to severe winter conditions as it is not Three Peak Mountain Snowflake (3PMSF) approved.
    • Traction performance in light snowy conditions might not be as great as some of its rivals.

SimpleTire’s view on Goodyear Wrangler SR-A tires

For your CUV, SUV, or pickup truck, if you are looking for a tire that’s highly capable of offering great traction year-round, then consider the Goodyear Wrangler SR-A, as it earns a higher 8.4 SimpleScore rating. In dry and wet conditions, the tire offers commanding grip; however, on light snowy roads, it might not be as outstanding as some of its high-end rivals. That said, the tire is made only for use in dry, wet, and light winter conditions, and should not be considered for driving in moderate to severe winter weather, as it is not severe snow (3PMSF) rated.

The tire offers lasting service, attested by its solid 8.0 SimpleScore for longevity. The use of a robust rubber compound and reinforced inner construction is one of the reasons why the Wrangler SR-A resists wear better. Likewise, there is a 50,000 mile limited manufacturer tread life warranty offered on the tire that not only returns better value on purchase, but also confirms that Goodyear has optimized this tire for extended use.

Talking about handling, the Wrangler SR-A earns a higher 8.4 out of 10 SimpleScore, much better than many other tires on the market with high-end badging. The use of features like TreadLock microgrooves definitely boosts the tire’s ability to maintain ride balance and control. Similarly, the tire’s ability to resist hydroplaning also contributes to better surface grip and stability in wet conditions.

The Wrangler SR-A comes at a reasonable price if you look at the competition in the high-end all-season tire market. Its braking performance is also admirable; however, its traction performance in snow isn’t as great as some of its peers.

The Wrangler SR-A competes with other all-season tires like: Bridgestone Alenza A/S 02 Hankook Dynapro HT (RH12) Yokohama Geolandar H/T G056
    Nexen N’Priz AH5

Needed to replace the tires on my Jeep. These are the larger optional tires and they have been great over the years and miles of driving. I do not drive much and I need to trust that my Jeep is ready to drive when I do drive it. These Wranglers were not expensive, compared to other tires that I have purchased and used. When these tires wear eventually out. I will replace with the same exact type.

I have 56000 miles on my 2004 Dodge Ram. Street driving only. This is my third set of Goodyear Wranglers. I only buy them because they came on the truck so I figured I'd keep them original. Did I mention this is my third set of these "50,000 mile" tires? That means I have been getting less than 20,000 miles between tire changes! So, while I was at the tire store, I asked the tire advisor why my tires kept wearing out so soon. She said "what kind are they?" I told her. And she said, "That's the reason" She said she sees a lot of pick-ups wearing these Goodyear tires out prematurely. She told me next time, check in with them first and they can give me a list of tires that they believe are better deals. And, I plan on doing that. In about 20,000 miles. As much as I like keeping my Ram original, I just can't see popping $800 for new tires every 20K miles. Sorry Goodyear. As I see it, you had three opportunities to show your stuff, and you didn't pass muster.

TLDR: Mediocre tire, if you live somewhere that is dry most of the time and you NEVER take it offroad, this is the tire for you. They get decent fuel economy and are reasonably quiet. I have these tires (265/60/20) on a 2005 Silverado 2500HD, and am very unimpressed. Towing trailers around on paved roads/highway they're perfectly adequate, and picked up 1-2MPG over the Sumitomo all terrains that were on the truck when I purchased it. That said, in minor snow/less than ideal situations they have very poor braking performance and overall little grip. My truck will get stuck rather quickly going through snow more than a couple inches deep, even in 4WD. These do not shed snow or mud at all.
