    Gladiator X COMP X/T

When it comes to light truck tires, there’s a netherworld that exists between all-terrain and mud-terrain tires. Mud-terrain tires tend to be noisy, rough-riding, and clumsy on pavement, but then all-terrain tires aren’t always able to get the job done when it comes to deep, soupy mud, sand, snow. So what’s a light truck driver to do?

That’s where the Gladiator X COMP X/T tire comes in. It’s designed to split the difference between the two, as a rugged, durable tire that can deliver traction and performance in the roughest conditions without flinching, while still offering good road manners and civilized performance on the pavement.

So what makes the tire such a great choice? Let’s take a deeper dive in this Gladiator X COMP X/T review:

    Features and Benefits

Here’s just a few of the bullet points on what makes the Gladiator X COMP X/T a sound option for light trucks, Jeeps, SUVs and crossovers:

    • Tough, 12 ply rated construction for extra strength and durability
    • 2-ply polyester casing with high turnup at the sidewall for durability and ride comfort
    • Aggressive lug tread with high void ratio for good self-cleaning of mud and debris
    • Wraparound lugs at shoulder enhance lateral traction for cornering or pulling out of ruts
    • Reinforced sidewall protects against punctures, cuts, abrasions
    • Tread pitch is computer tuned to keep road noise low
    • Free roadside assistance and road hazard coverage
    • M&S rated for mud/snow traction

Backed by a 45,000 mile limited manufacturer tread life warranty, the tire has a 16/32” tread depth and is available in a wide range of sizes for various fitments.

    Pros and Cons

This is a tire where we feel that the pluses really outweigh the minuses:

    PROS

    • Exceptional traction and durability
    • Excellent warranty coverage
    • Surprisingly civilized on pavement
    • Good self-cleaning of mud and debris

    CONS

    • Not great in extremely heavy snow or mud
    • A little expensive

SimpleTire’s view on Gladiator X COMP X/T tires

When the Gladiator X COMP X/T was designed, the company took their Gladiator X COMP M/T mud terrain tire and made some subtle but significant changes in its design. The end result is a tire that’s durable and amazingly competent offroad (including aired-down rock crawling), but still delivers good road manners, ride quality and noise levels on the pavement. It’s also worth mentioning that the Gladiator X COMP X/T looks great on a wide range of trucks and SUVs. Its 45,000 mile limited manufacturer tread life warranty and free road hazard and roadside assistance package just sweetens the deal a little more, especially for a category of tire that often doesn’t have treadwear coverage at all.

    Gladiator X COMP X/T

The X COMP X/T is ideal for use on Jeeps, light trucks, and SUVs. If you own a Chevrolet Tahoe, Dodge Durango, Ford Bronco, GMC Yukon, Jeep Gladiator, Nissan Titan, RAM 1500, or Toyota Land Cruiser and want a tire that offers better off-road performance than an all-terrain tire without sacrificing ride comfort, then this is a tire you need to consider.
