There’s a good reason why all-season tires are the go-to solution for most drivers of sedans, minivans, crossovers, and SUVs. All-season tires are designed for versatility and dependability, with year-round traction in about every condition other than heavy snow, long and even wear, a quiet and refined ride, and handling that’s competent, if not quite up to the level of performance tires. Not surprisingly, every tire manufacturer puts a lot of resources into developing all-season tires that can answer those needs and be the Swiss Army Knife of tires that drivers need.
The Dunlop Signature II is a great example of what a modern, premium all-season tire has to offer. Dunlop is one of the oldest tire manufacturers around and as part of the Goodyear family, Dunlop benefits from Goodyear’s expertise in design and manufacturing.
But don’t just take us at our word on that, let’s go in for a closer look with this Dunlop Signature II review:
Features and Benefits
Here are some of the features and innovations that make the Dunlop Signature II a great performer and a great value:
- Dunlop’s Evaqua Grooves design pumps water away from the tire’s footprint to resist hydroplaning on wet roads
- VersaLoad technology is designed to deliver consistent tread wear, ride quality, and handling, regardless of the conditions
- A multi-directional sipe pattern helps to assure effective grip in wet or light snowy conditions by multiplying the tread’s surface area and traction with hundreds of extra biting edges to slice through snow, slush, water
- 10/32” initial tread depth for optimal traction and long service life
- Twin steel belts with Dunlop’s Dimensionally Stable Polyester casing for great ride comfort, high-speed stability
- The advanced cutting-edge tread compound is designed for long, even wear and great wet-weather traction
- Backed by a 65,000 mile limited manufacturer tread life warranty
- Solid center rib enhances straight-line stability and steering response
- Dunlop offers a 45-day satisfaction guarantee, after which you can keep the Signature II or swap for a different set of Goodyear or Dunlop tires
Pros and Cons
So, is this Dunlop tire the right choice for your ride and budget? Before you decide, let’s take a look at the tire’s pros and cons.
PROS:
- Long, even treadwear and generous mileage warranty
- Handling is predictable and consistent
- Ride quality is composed and comfortable
- Deep tread depth means the Dunlop Signature II delivers great traction on wet or dry pavement
CONS:
- The tire is not Three Peak Mountain Snowflake certified, so it should not be used in moderate to severe winter weather conditions
- Can be noisy on some pavement surfaces
SimpleTire’s view on Dunlop Signature II tires
At the price point of the Dunlop Signature II, there are plenty of all-season tires to choose from, but the Signature II is an all-season tire that really does deliver on value and performance. Are you familiar with SimpleTire’s SimpleScore system? SimpleScore is the rating system that our team developed to give you a quick at-a-glance idea of a tire’s strengths and weaknesses. We look at a tire’s specs, reviews, and other data points, then distill that information to a numerical value from 1-10 for the categories of traction, handling, and longevity, along with an overall average SimpleScore for that tire. For the Dunlop Signature II, the SimpleScore numbers are as follows:
- Traction: 7.7
- Handling: 7.6
- Longevity: 8.1
- Overall average SimpleScore: 7.7
Those are some pretty solid SimpleScore ratings for any tire, especially a mid-priced tire like the Dunlop Signature II. We’re impressed by the handling of the Signature II, with its solid center rib that gives a boost to steering response; cornering may not be up to what you’d expect from a summer or ultra-high-performance tire for sporty models, but it’s consistent and predictable with little tendency toward oversteer or understeer. Dunlop’s VersaLoad technology pre-stretches and cures the tire’s fabric layers during the manufacturing process, which plays out in the real world with silky ride quality and straight-line stability at highway speed that’s as solid as if the car is on rails.
The Signature II stays composed and civilized even over rough and uneven pavement, with no tendency toward jitteriness or lack of control. The steering response is quick and direct without ever being overly sensitive, and the Signature II delivers admirable traction on wet or dry pavement. It’s true that despite the multi-angle sipe network, the Signature II does fall a little short when it comes to traction in heavier snow, but to be honest, that kind of winter traction is difficult for most all-season tires that aren’t stamped with the M+S or Three Peak Mountain Snowflake certification. A 65,000 mile warranty is another real plus for a tire at this price point, as is Dunlop’s 45-day satisfaction guarantee. All in all, it’s our take that the Dunlop Signature II is a great candidate for any driver of a sedan, minivan, or crossover who’s looking for the versatility and dependability of an all-season tire.

5 star service
Great tires. I have used them on two Volvos with great success.
I have a 4x4 2014 Jeep Compass Latitude, which came with Dunlop Signature II tires, only reason why I had to order another tire was because I ran over a piece of metal. Other than that I have tested these tires in rain and snow (Colorado) and they are perfect when riding at low and safe speeds (30 mph) to get through the nasty weather. This tire gets the job done!
When it was raining out I always had trouble getting moving after i was stopped. They also were noisy and after 20 thousand miles I was ready to replace at any cost. Maybe its just because I cant get over my michelins I had a couple years ago
infinity uses dunlop and i wish they didnt. Terrible tire all around and the noise they cause is unbearable for how much I paid for my car
