Coming from the house of TBC Corporation, Crosswind is known for manufacturing tires for passenger cars, SUVs, CUVs, light trucks, and commercial vehicles. With its reliable range of all-season, all-terrain, and mud-terrain tires, Crosswind has earned huge respect among the enthusiasts. Technology, innovation, and quality control are the tire manufacturer’s core functioning elements to produce sustainable and remarkably performing products.
One such tire is the Crosswind A/T, which is an all-terrain tire and is versatile enough to perform on challenging terrains as well as highways. The build of the tire is durable and appearance-wise, it looks stylish. Crosswind has utilized its state-of-the-art technologies to make the tire suitable for both on- and off-road purposes. But, the question is, are these technologies really good enough to cater to a seamless riding experience in all kinds of conditions? Let’s find out in this Crosswind A/T tire review.
Features and Benefits
The Crosswind A/T is a typical all-terrain tire that offers on- and off-road traction and has the ability to climb rocks and perform on the highways. This tire is designed for use on mid and full-size pickups, Jeeps, and SUVs, and can be used in all seasons and on all kinds of surfaces. Alongside offering an aggressive off-road performance, this tire also offers enhanced controllability and increased tread life. Let’s have a look at the Crosswind A/T’s features and benefits to understand the tire in detail.
- Reliable all-terrain performance – The open shoulder design, independent staggered tread blocks, and wider grooves allow the Crosswind A/T to sail through soft, loose, and uneven terrains effortlessly. The tread pattern of the tire is tuned for optimal self-cleaning, thus preventing the tire from stone and mud retention and reducing the chances of tire damage caused to the casing.
- Good year-round utility – The tire has an all-season tread compound and an optimized tread pattern that allows the tire to perform in dry, wet, and light winter weather conditions. The tread blocks of this tire ensure solid year-round grip and are engineered to maintain adequate flexibility in colder temperatures. The wider grooves and open shoulder design of the Crosswind A/T reduce the risk of hydroplaning by dispersing water and slush from the contact patch area and boosting wet grip.
- Longer tread life – The footprint of the Crosswind A/T is engineered to maintain optimum contact with the road surface. There’s a distribution of acceleration, cornering, and braking forces across the tread contact patch that ensures increased tread life and reduced chances of uneven wear.
- Better controllability – There’s a continuous block rib on the center of the Crosswind A/T’s tread pattern that maintains contact on the roads and challenging terrains, and helps in boosting the steering responsiveness and driving stability.
- Quiet on-road drives – The A/T’s open shoulder design and the close road contact ensures seamless channeling of the airwaves through the footprint, thus controlling the road and tread pattern noise for comfortable noise-free rides.
- Impressive warranty – The A/T is available in 15 to 20-inch rim sizes and is backed by a limited manufacturer tread life warranty for up to 50,000 miles.
Pros and Cons
So, is the Crosswind A/T a good all-terrain tire, or should you consider something else? Let’s go through the pros and cons before concluding with our verdict.
- This tire offers solid year-round traction and performs very well on challenging terrains.
- Optimized tread design assures comfortable highway drives, making it of great use on paved roads.
- Durable construction and advanced tread design assure longevity and even wear.
- Seamless airwave channeling around the tread area assures noise-free rides.
- Affordable as compared to some of its competitors.
- Improved water channeling ensures superior wet-weather traction.
While Crosswind claims the A/T to be the best bet in the price point all-terrain tire category, it does have certain cons.
- Limited performance in extreme winter weather conditions.
- Braking performance is not as great as some of its rivals.
- Peers perform better in rainy conditions.
- Not a dedicated deep mud performer.
SimpleTire’s view on Crosswind A/T tires
The Crosswind A/T comes with versatile capabilities and also scores high when it comes to offering driving comforts. The noise levels of this tire are remarkably low, however, it may struggle when driven in deep mud and in rainy seasons. Its competitors do perform better on the braking front, but as far as the pricing is concerned, the A/T is undoubtedly a very reasonable choice in the mid-range all-terrain tire category.
It does a great job in light winter weather conditions, but its biting edges aren’t capable of achieving traction on thick snow.
If you ignore some of its weaknesses, the Crosswind A/T can be a great choice for your pickups, jeeps, and SUVs. But do keep in mind that it’s not a pure-breed off-roading tire and can be of good use if driven on highways and taken on occasional off-roads. This tire is backed by a 50,000-mile manufacturer tread life warranty, assuring absolute peace of mind to the vehicle owners.
While the Crosswind A/T does not offer the same level of performance as the Toyo Open Country A/T III, Kumho Road Venture AT51, and Hankook Dynapro AT2, it does offer strong performance at a more affordable price.
Vehicles the Crosswind A/T is a good replacement tire for
Commonly used on SUVs, jeeps, and light trucks, the Crosswind A/T can be a good replacement tire for vehicles like Jeep Wrangler, Ford F-150, Chevrolet Trailblazer, Dodge RAM 1500, Nissan Pathfinder, Toyota Highlander, Mitsubishi Outlander, and GMC Yukon.

They are quiet on the highway, perform good in the rain and good in light snow. I havnt used them in heavy snow yet but i can tell with 4wd they will perform good as well. The are wearing good and even although i havnt rotated them yet but i will be soon. All in all they are great tires for the price and I'll will be buying them again.
For the price and performance these tires are great and handle all weather conditions and terrain with ease
Low noise. Good grip. Would buy again.
Just at 8k miles the tires started to show the defectiveness. My car started to shake at 40mph and when I would put on the brakes the car would pulsate. I thought it was the breaks but after taking it to the tire shop, they concluded the tires were starting to separate internally. This could have caused a huge accident or maybe something more serious. You get what you pay for and you may end up paying more in other ways if these tires failed while you were driving. Do not recommend.
The tire performs great but I had to file a road hazard claim and it was HORRIBLE!!! Been waiting on my refund and getting jerked around with outstanding information and NO COMMUNICATION.
I will get the same tires again for half of the cost a a known brand.
Looked like a cheap recap coming apart, the whole belt was exposed all along the shoulder.
