Cooper tires have been manufacturing tires since 1914. With Army-Navy “E” Award for Excellence for recognizing their work in the World War II effort, they are a proud sponsor of Professional Bull Riders Inc., the Indy Pro 2000, Canadian Hockey League, and Torc Off-Road Championship.

Cooper is known to produce all-season, all-terrain, winter tires, and other tires for a wide range of passenger, commercial, and off-the-road vehicles in addition to motorcycles and aircraft.

The Cooper CS5 Grand Touring is yet another accomplished all-season passenger tire that is ideal to be used on sedans, coupes, minivans, CUVs, and SUVs or anyone who is looking for enhanced luxury with self-supporting, run-flat capabilities, and increased year-round traction, even in light snow.

But is the CS5 Grand Touring the right tire for you? Let’s take a look at this Cooper CS5 Grand Touring review.

    Features and Benefits

All-season tires perform exceptionally well in areas that receive moderate temperatures year-round. As an all-season tire, the Cooper CS5 Grand Touring is designed for use on sedans, CUVs, and SUVs, and offers drivers superior handling, cornering, and stability, along with an 80,000 mile limited tread life warranty. All-season tires are also known to offer better-rolling resistance for enhanced fuel economy. Let’s take a look at the Cooper CS5 Grand Touring tire review to help understand all its features and benefits at a glance:

    • Improved tread wear: This tire has Wear Square indicator that allows you to quickly see the approximate tread life remaining on your tires.
    • Reduced hydroplaning: The open shoulder slots on the CS5 Grand Touring make sure to reduce the chance of hydroplaning even when tires are worn.
    • Enhanced traction: Four wide channels provide outstanding control in wet conditions and balance on slippery roads by providing additional traction.
    • Optimized steering response: The Stabiledge Technology enhances handling and dry traction stability delivering confident vehicle handling.
    • Reduced noise: The innovative tread pattern helps deliver a quiet and comfortable ride for its passengers and drivers.

The wheel size ranges from 15-inch to 18-inch, which makes it an ideal choice for a wide range of vehicles on roads today, including compact cars, mid-size sedans, performance sedans, coupes, minivans, and crossovers. Plus, it is backed by Cooper’s 80,000 mile limited manufacturer tread life warranty.

    Pros and Cons

The CS5 Grand Touring indeed is a great tire that offers drivers excellent traction and handling performance year-round. But is this really what your vehicle needs? Before deciding to buy the Cooper CS5 Grand Touring or not, let’s first drill down on a few factors that can help you decide whether or not the tire is right for you.

    • Wear Square indicator for excellent treadwear
    • Four wide channels provide superior grip year-round
    • Stabiledge Technology enhances handling and dry traction stability
    • Open shoulder slots and full-depth main grooves provide consistent water evacuation for a better-wet grip
    • Asymmetric pattern and inboard design provided great handling and a quiet ride
    • Long tread life with 80,000 mile limited manufacturer tread life warranty

While Cooper makes a good claim about CS5 Grand Touring’s performance, some shortcomings may divide opinions.

    • The ride is firmer than its closest premium competitors
    • Tread noise is a slight issue on rough pavement
    • Not ideal for use on icy surfaces
    • Only available for passenger vehicles

SimpleTire’s view on Cooper CS5 Grand Touring tires

The CS5 Grand Touring is a passenger all-season tire ideal for use in dry, wet, and light snow conditions. As an all-season tire, this also helps the drivers to conquer any weather condition. This tire features four grooves within the tread to remove water from the road for added hydroplaning resistance, and the CS5 Grand Touring also features ribs and grooves within the tread that allow for precise handling. Built with a Wear Square Indicator that visually shows a driver how much tread their tire has left, the CS5 Grand Touring offers a quiet, comfortable ride. The durable all-season compound promotes great vehicle handling and increased hydroplaning resistance.

Although the Cooper CS5 Grand Touring is a great choice for all-season touring tires, if you want a tire that gives you similar performing capabilities at a lower price and you are willing to compromise on tread warranty, you can consider Yokohama Avid Touring-S tire.

I am particular when it comes to tires. I am pleased with these all season tires. No slipping issues on wet surfaces after rain. They're quiet and handle well. I bought them in early July, so have no opinion yet on Winter traction or tread life.

Simpletire is one of the best company's I have ever had the pleasure of purchasing from. Simpletire's customers service is amazing. I had some road damage to one of the tires I bought from them and I had purchased the warranty on the tires. I made contact with their customer service department and advised them of the problem. I was just asked to send a picture of the tire that was damaged. Within 10 minutes of sending them a picture of the tire I received a text stating my new tire was being ordered. Approximately 2 hours later I got confirmation my tire was ordered and being shipped that day. I received the new tire the next day. No hassle no run arounds from one department to another. Just quick, courteous, and professional service. I would and do recommend anyone in need of tires to order tires from this company.

The tires were delivered on time and had them mounted with little human interaction, which follows the Corona virus guide lines. The tires make my SUV ride like a new vehicle.

I've only had these tires for a thousand miles but so far so good I didn't rate the treadwear Life 5 stars because I have not had them that long but they're very quiet They Ride great they do good in the wet and snow conditions but my vehicle is all wheel drive so it might be different on a 2 wheel drive vehicle I drive a 2010 Equinox they replace some all-season Michelin and I noticed in approvement right away but in all fairness the michelins were the factory tires on my car and they lived a long life I just bought these cuz of price was right and so far so good thanks simple Tire I will shop your again

These are very good handling tires on dry pavement. They are very quiet tires and so far tread life seams to be good. They are the worst tires in the snow I have ever had. If you live in an area that receives any amount of snow, I would highly recommend a different tire.
