In the arena of all-terrain tires, some of the best options out there are tires that deliver versatile and capable traction off the pavement, while still offering a quiet, comfortable ride with refined road manners and handling on the road. That’s the goal with the Centara Terrena A/T, an affordable all-terrain tire for light trucks, Jeeps, and SUVs that offer dependable, consistent traction in difficult off-road environments along with a surprisingly civilized character on the pavement. Let’s get in there and go for a closer look with this Centara Terrena A/T tire review.
Features and Benefits
Here are some of the great design features that make the Centara Terrena A/T a strong performer and a great value:
- The advanced tread compound is designed for resistance to cuts, punctures, abrasions, and impacts as well as long, even wear and enhanced traction on wet roads
- Radial construction with polyester casing, high-tensile steel belt package, nylon cap layer
- Reinforced sidewalls resist cuts, punctures, impacts
- Innovative semi-directional tread with scalloped tread blocks and wide, deep grooves
- Reinforced tread blocks at the shoulder are designed for improved cornering ability and steering response
- The tread contact patch is optimized to put more rubber in contact with the road for improved braking, traction, steering response, and overall road manners
- Tread pitch is randomized and computer-tuned to cancel certain frequencies and overtones, keeping road noise to a minimum
- Continuous center rib helps to enhance straight-line stability on the highway as well as crisp, light steering response
- 10-ply rated for great load capacity
- Initial tread depth 10/32” for long wear, excellent traction
- Two circumferential grooves, designed to quickly evacuate water from the tire’s contact patch to resist hydroplaning on wet roads
- A network of sipes helps to multiply traction in wet or snowy conditions with hundreds of hair-thin slits
- Wide grooves are designed to quickly shed mud and debris and enhance traction so there’s always a clear section of tread to dig into mud or soft soil as the wheel turns

SimpleTire’s view on Centara Terrena A/T tires
When it comes to all-terrain tires, there are a lot (really a lot) of choices out there, at every conceivable price point from super-expensive premium brand tires to budget tires that can sometimes be a little dodgy when it comes to quality and performance. With the Centara Terrena A/T, we have a tire that punches far above its weight class and delivers premium-quality value and performance that goes far beyond the price.
Are you familiar with SimpleScore? SimpleScore is the rating system that the SimpleTire team developed to give you a quick, at-a-glance idea of a tire’s strengths and weaknesses. We take into account the tire’s technical details, specs, manufacturer info, customer reviews, and other data points, then process that to a 1-10 numerical score for the categories of traction, handling, and longevity, along with an overall average SimpleScore. In the case of the Centara Terrena A/T, the SimpleScore info looks like this:
Centara Terrena A/T:
- Traction: 7.5
- Handling: 7.9
- Longevity: 7.2
- Overall average SimpleScore: 7.5
Off the pavement in mud, loose dirt, snow, or gravel, the Centara Terrena A/T is pretty consistent when it comes to control and traction. The self-cleaning design of the tread grooves helps to cut down on the wheelspin by flinging mud, stones, and debris from the tread and helping to ensure there’s always a clear section of tread that can dig in again and get the grip you need. The reinforced shoulder blocks help to cut down on the deformation and “tread squirm” that goes along with hard cornering, giving the tire an extra measure of rigidity without affecting ride quality.
On the highway, the Centara Terrena A/T is composed and capable, with dead-solid straight-line stability that’s never numb or sluggish. The steering response is quick and light without ever being too touchy or sensitive, and handling going into corners or hard turns is predictable with few vices. Ride quality can be a little firm on some pavement surfaces and the Centara can generate a little bit of noise at times, but it’s a good fit for long hours on the interstate nonetheless.
It’s true that the Centara Terrena A/T doesn’t come with a limited manufacturer’s tread life warranty, but many affordable price point tires don’t have a mileage warranty. It’s also true that this tire isn’t Three Peak Mountain Snowflake rated, but customer reviews indicate that it does offer dependable traction in snow and slush, thanks to its tread design and sipes. It’s our opinion that the Centara Terrena A/T is of great value and offers exceptional performance, especially considering its budget price.
