  • When it comes to tires, BFGoodrich is one of the biggest names in the industry as the company has over 150 years of experience to leverage. A member of the Michelin family, BFGoodrich offers a wide range of tires for many different needs and the All-Terrain T/A KO2 line is regarded as one of the absolute best all-terrain tires on the market. But what exactly makes the tire one of the best in the industry? Fortunately, SimpleTire is here to help with a BFGoodrich All-Terrain T/A KO2 review.

    Features and Benefits

All-terrain tires are meant to be driven on- and off-road, and they need specific tread patterns and constructions to do that. The All-Terrain T/A KO2 features three major innovations to provide excellent performance on any terrain: Interlocking tread blocks, which work to stabilize the tread center to create additional biting edges that enhance grip and traction. These also provide aggressive looks that are sure to compliment a truck, SUV, or Jeep. Serrated shoulders, which promote self-cleaning for consistent traction in muddy, snowy, and rocky terrains. The serrated shoulders of the All-Terrain T/A KO2 are also optimized for use in aired-down driving situations that are common in off-road driving. This means that, despite less air pressure, the All-Terrain T/A KO2 is still able to provide high-end traction in difficult off-road terrains. BFGoodrich’s CoreGard Technology, which was originally engineered for off-road racing tires like the Baja T/A KR2. This technology makes the rubber thicker to protect the tire against splits and bruises that are common from off-road objects such as sticks and sharp rocks.

Additionally, the All-Terrain T/A KO2 is Three Peak Mountain Snowflake certified, which means that the tire exceeds the standards of the U.S. Tire Manufacturers Association (USTMA) for traction and performance in severe snow and ice.

Durability is also important to all-terrain tires as they need to be able to withstand truly difficult driving conditions. In addition to CoreGard Technology, the All-Terrain T/A KO2 features locking 3D sipes and a strategically designed footprint that evenly distributes on-road pressure. Both of these features are designed to prevent uneven wear so that drivers get more miles out of their purchase. Speaking of miles, the All-Terrain T/A KO2 is backed by a 50,000 mile limited manufacturer tread life warranty and 60-day satisfaction guarantee for all non-original equipment sizes.

    Pros and Cons

Now that you know what the All-Terrain T/A KO2 does, you might be wondering if it makes sense for you. Here are a few reasons why the tire might make sense for you: The tire offers superb performance on- and off-road thanks to an aggressive, strategically designed tread pattern Backed by a 50,000 mile limited manufacturer tread life warranty Available in over 80 sizes, meaning that it fits a wide variety of pickup trucks, SUVs, and Jeeps Aggressive tread pattern and raised white letter sidewall option (on select sizes) are sure to compliment the looks of your ride

Unfortunately, no tire is perfect and the All-Terrain T/A KO2 is no different. While there are plenty of strengths for the tire, there are some negatives: Like most all-terrain tires, the All-Terrain T/A KO2 is not a very quiet tire. That’s not to say the tire is noisy, but it’s definitely not as quiet as an all-season or touring tire. This is largely due to the aggressive tread blocks that the tire utilizes for off-road driving.

Price, as the All-Terrain T/A KO2 starts at just over $200 per tire. This means that a set of four will cost at least $800 before taxes and fees, and that’s not including installation.

    SimpleTire’s view on BFGoodrich All-Terrain T/A KO2 tires

If you’re looking for a new set of all-terrain tires, then there aren’t many better options than the All-Terrain T/A KO2. While more expensive than competitors like the Toyo Open Country A/T III and Falken Wildpeak A/T3W, the All-Terrain T/A KO2 is race proven as it completed and won the rigorous 2013 Baja 1000 off-road race without being replaced. You’re likely not going to take your daily driver through a desert race, but the BFGoodrich All-Terrain T/A KO2 is proven that it’s capable of handling the toughest off-road driving conditions.

Jayshin Verified Customer Sep 17, 2020 I purchased two sets of 4. These tires have held up under all the stress and harsh road conditions I have put them through. I stretched these tires and mounted them on a lowered vehicle. These tires have not given out on me nor have I had to replace them. I give them a 5 out of 5.

Nathan Verified Customer Sep 16, 2020 Had a set of LT285/70R17 on my lifted Toyota FJ Cruiser and performed exceptionally well, especially in wet condition which i was skeptic of. Barely any road noice and great on trails. Highly recommend and it lives up to its name, the only reason i went with another set of tires was i got a new set of wheels and they didn't have any BF Goodrich KO2 in the tire size i wanted.

Bryan Verified Customer Sep 17, 2020 The best tires for the money. I've had them on my GMC 2500HD and they last. I've been getting 50,000 miles on we're set that I've had. Keep make get tires BFG

Vehicles the BFGoodrich All-Terrain T/A KO2 is an OEM tire for

While building a new vehicle, vehicle manufacturers look for specific performance features that meet the car’s needs. In addition to being a top-of-the-line replacement tire, the All-Terrain T/A KO2 is used as the OEM tire on multiple vehicles such as the 2017 and 2021 Ford F-150 Raptor, 2018 and 2019 Jeep Wrangler Rubicon, and 2021 Ford Bronco Badlands thanks to its excellent performance and durability. That being said, the All-Terrain T/A KO2 is a great choice for many other vehicles such as the Toyota Tundra, Nissan Titan, Chevrolet Tahoe, and many other vehicles.

So far, the 35 KO2s have been all that I needed them to be. Quiet on-road performance while still offering a very capable off-road tire. I only felt there could be improvement in very wet and slushy snow situations. It could have also been the pressure I was running at the time; I am not certain. I will continue to test them out in different scenarios but I am very happy I opted for these.

So, I previously had the fallen wild peaks, BFG KM3s, and nitro ridge grapplers. These KO2s are always on a list of best tires for daily driving and off road use and there's a reason why. Ultimately I'm not made of money and I'm looking for the best option with longevity and warranty being the primary focus next to function and looks. These tires have a world renowned reputation and WILL stand the test of time. The previously mentioned tires all wore very fast and produced early uneven tread wear. This is a huge safety concern depending on your landscape and more importantly, for the effects on the vehicles handling or adjacent stress points. I watched tons of videos and these KO2s were the obvious choice for my intended use. They will look great, last long and serve your needs well. You'll look back and say, why didn't I get these sooner; so just buy them already!
