The Grand Marquis got its start in the mid 70s as the top-of-the-line, premium model of Mercury's full-size Marquis. Over the years, it was downsized to the blocky 80s-generation version, then redesigned again as the counterpart of Ford's Crown Victoria in the late 90s. The Grand Marquis was available in Base, GS, LS, and LSE versions, as well as the Colony Park wagon (til 1991). The Crown Vic and Grand Marquis were both discontinued in 2011.</div>
