Japanese tire manufacturer Yokohama was started on October 13, 1917 as a joint venture between Yokohama Cable Manufacturing and B.F. Goodrich. It was extended to the US in 1969 as Yokohama Tire Corporation and offers tires of all types with the latest technology, including all-season, winter, all-terrain, ultra-high-performance, and more. Yokohama boasts of an extensive sales network in the US and was the first Japanese tire manufacturer to receive ISO9001 certification for quality.

With an extensive product catalog that helps drivers with different needs and cutting-edge technology, Yokohama strives to create tires that meet different needs. A growing segment, ultra-high-performance all-season tires allow sports and performance-oriented cars to have high-end traction and performance year-round, and the Yokohama Advan Sport A/S Plus tire is purpose-built to provide superior comfort, handling, and grip across all seasons along with low levels of road noise. But do their technologies translate into measurable real-world performance? We found out more during the Yokohama Advan Sport A/S Plus review.

    Features and Benefits

All-season tires are specially manufactured for superior traction in cold, hot, and wet weather conditions. A Yokohama Advan Sport A/S Plus tire review will show how they are equally good in light snow. The tread pattern of the Advan Sport A/S comprises special polymers to keep the rubber flexible in cold weather, ensuring consistent traction for coupes, sports sedans, and luxury sedans. Additional Z grooves and a serpentine groove are also available to boost grip in winter. Further, drivers will love the boost in overall performance and fuel economy as a result of a redesigned contact patch with consistent pressure distribution that lowers rolling resistance and fends off uneven wear. Therefore, this is an ideal tire for individuals looking for a balance between performance and comfort.

Some of the major benefits of the Advan Sport A/S are:

    • Enjoyable ride
    • Large outboard shoulder blocks are helpful for agile dry cornering
    • 2-in-1 intermediate blocks enhance lateral stability and handling response
    • Maximized wet traction thanks to an updated rubber compound that has increased silica content and is processed through a proprietary mixing process
    • Twin steel belts with spirally wrapped nylon for responsive handling

    Pros and Cons

So, is it a good idea to choose Yokohama Advan Sport A/S Plus or look elsewhere? Putting down the pros and cons will help arrive at a decision:

    Pros

    • Wavy sipes have biting edges for superior grip in slippery conditions
    • Equally good dry and wet traction
    • Reinforced blocks and shoulders provide cornering stability
    • Delivers comfortable ride on low profile tires
    • Provides a great feel during emergency stops
    • While these are softer and quieter than Continental ExtremeContact DWS06, they deliver better wet traction than the Hankook Ventus S1 Noble2
    • Less expensive than similar Bridgestone, and Pirelli tires

    Cons

    • Not the most comfortable tires over bumps
    • Suitable only for light snow

SimpleTire’s view on Yokohama Advan Sport A/S Plus tires

If you want a tire that can perform equally well in summer, winter, and rain, then the Yokohama Advan Sport A/S Plus rating would be very high. Whether you drive your vehicle cautiously or aggressively, tire performance will not be affected. Moreover, it’s a value-for-money deal as it offers responsive handling, a quiet ride, and, above all, confidence performance when driving in heavy rain. In comparison to the Pirelli P Zero, and Continental ExtremeContact DWS06, the Advan Sport A/S Plus offers a better all-round package at a lower price point.

Vehicles the Yokohama Advan Sport A/S Plus is commonly used on

Commonly seen on sedans, coupes, and even SUVs, Yokohama Advan Sport A/S Plus is available as a replacement tire and not as an OEM tire. That being said, you can order them for vehicles like Volkswagen Jetta, Mazda 6, Subaru BRZ, Mitsubishi Eclipse Spyder GT, Nissan 350Z, Audi A4, Ferrari 348 TS, Toyota Corolla, and many other vehicles.
