Yokohama Rubber Company is among the few global tire makers with over a century of experience in tire manufacturing. Offering all-season, ultra-high-performance, winter, and many other tire types, this Japanese tire manufacturer has been at the forefront of rolling out quality tires with special concern about the environment. In 2022, it unleashed a new [ultra-high-performance](https://simpletire.com/categories/uhp-tires) tire range as the Advan Neova AD09 that comes in 51 sizes ranging from 15 to 21 inches.
Designed with more focus on road grip (wet and dry), the Advan Neova AD09 features an optimized tread pattern with a special silica compound for enhanced traction in warmer weather conditions. It promises to provide excellent dry grip with strong performance under wet weather conditions too. But does the tire really perform up to that level or are its claims exaggerated? We find out in this Yokohama Advan Neova AD09 review.
Features and Benefits
As an ultra-high-performance tire, the Advan Neova AD09 is meant to go fast. Here’s how the tire does that:
Innovative asymmetric tread pattern with wide shoulders offers an excellent combination of maximized road contact and grooves that improve wet performance and dry grip. Two wide wavy circumferential grooves promote fast drainage by quickly removing the water from the tread and maintaining traction while avoiding the risk of hydroplaning at high speeds. Whether it’s a track or street, the high-performance tread design allows it to cover laps faster and safer than ever thanks to the larger shoulder blocks.
Precision handling is possible thanks to a strong center rib that runs across the tire and provides constant contact with the road surface for quick steering response at fast speeds. Helping the cause is the all-new casing construction (the most rigid casing ever in its tires as claimed by Yokohama) that features a high turn-up ply for strong rigidity. Furthermore, the tuning in/out groove angle improves the rigidity of the tread while the groove depth ensures long-lasting grip and superior wear performance.
A round profile with two-layered belts improves cornering by providing high rigidity and high cornering force, and not letting the tire skid and lose contact with the surface. The smoothing block edges on the grooves assist in the easy channeling of water to deliver excellent wear performance while a special silica compound improves braking and cornering abilities on wet and dry surfaces. The overall tread design indicates that it’ll stay strong throughout the entire life cycle of the tire.
