I'm running 205/50R15 Toyo Proxes R888R tires on a 94 Acura Integra GS-R making roughly 600 WHP through a Precision 5858 turbo and Sheepey Race top-mount turbo kit. At this power level, no 205-width tire is going to completely solve traction on a front-wheel-drive Integra, but the R888R does an impressive job of making the power much more usable compared to other tires I have ran. The biggest improvement is in dry traction and stability once the tires have some heat in them. The car still has no problem overpowering the tires in the lower gears, especially when boost comes in hard, but compared with a typical performance street tire, the R888R hooks noticeably better and feels much more predictable. On the street, throttle modulation is still important with roughly 600 WHP. First and second gear can easily overwhelm the tires, but from a roll and in the higher gears the R888R gives the car significantly more confidence. The tire also feels very planted during aggressive cornering, with sharp turn-in and strong lateral grip. The 205/50R15 size works well on a lightweight 1994 Integra GS-R, keeping the rotating package light while maintaining the classic 15-inch Honda setup. That said, on a 600 WHP FWD build, I would consider a wider tire or a more drag-focused setup if maximum straight-line traction is the goal. For a high-horsepower street and track Integra, the Toyo R888R is a strong compromise between outright grip and something that can still be driven on the street.

I have run these tires on a Fiero track car and a Triumph Spitfire track car. I also have road versions of both of those cars, so I know the difference these tires make. They are fantastic track car tires. They grip hard and warm up fairly quick (the spitfire is a really light car, so thats a good thing). Bolt a set of these to your car and have a great time at an autocross. Don't buy these as your only set to drive everywhere. They wear pretty quickly, to be expected. They shouldn't be left on the car under 40 degrees. Also, if you are new to the chassis you are bringing to a track; these will hide a lot of suspension flaws. I would recommend learning on a normal radial and moving up to these if you want to hone your skills with your car. I did not with the Fiero and I regretted it. So I sold the Fiero and built a Spitfire because I am way more familiar with that chassis and its handling characteristics.

Running a car with over 850+ ft-lbs of torque the tires lasted me 4-5 months of daily driving from the end of winter (February) till June of spirited driving. When first driving, they sounded like a fighter jet but I got used to it. The tires take a while to warm up w/ a stiff sidewall for good handling. In cold or rainy conditions if you drive like a sensible person they do pretty well. On wet concrete you can feel the car dance & during heavy rain.

I was told by the shop who did the build on my 2016 c7 z51 that the Toyo R88R tire is the only way to go with the amount of RWHP. My vette has 719RWHP and these r88rs have held up as best as anyone could expect to the rough highways and my heavy foot. Thanks

If you're looking at this tire for your performance car or truck, go ahead and get them! They grip corners like you're on rails, and launch traction is greatly improved over stock.
