There are plenty of affordable options in all-season tires for sedans, minivans, coupe, and crossovers, but many of them offer handling that’s lackluster at best. That’s where the Thunderer Mach II R301 steps up the game.
The Mach II R301 is designed for ride comfort, low noise, great road manners, long wear, year-round traction, and high-performance steering response, braking, and cornering ability. Best of all, it’s protected by a generous tread life warranty that far exceeds that of most tires at this price point.
Don’t believe us? Let’s take a closer look at what the tire has to offer in this Thunderer Mach II R301 review.
Features and Benefits
All-season tires are engineered to perform year-round. Fortunately, Thunderer knows this and backed the Mach II R301 with plenty of features that allow the tire to perform at a high level.
- All-season tread pattern with a combination of angled and circumferential grooves to channel water away from the tire’s contact patch and resist hydroplaning
- Solid center rib enhances straight-line stability on the highway and steering response
- Jointless nylon cap overlay and two steel belts for stability and long wear
- Advanced tread compound engineered for great traction and even wear
- Tread pitch is computer-tuned and randomized to help cancel road noise
- Rounded, notched shoulders are designed for great cornering ability
Available in H- and V-speed rated sizes, the Mach II R301 is backed by a 60,000 mile limited manufacturer tread life warranty.

SimpleTire’s view on Thunderer Mach II R301 tires
If you’ve got a sedan, coupe, minivan, or crossover that’s showing its age and has a lot of miles on it, you might not be too eager to put a dent in your bank account with an expensive set of tires. The good news is that there’s plenty of more affordable options for all-season tires for your vehicle, and the Thunderer Mach II R301 is a great example.
The Mach II R301’s solid center rib is designed to enhance steering response as well as straight-line stability on the highway, and the rounded, notched shoulder gives you an edge in cornering ability for offramps or twisty roads. It might not rival the handling of an ultra-high-performance tire and it doesn’t get great traction in heavier winter conditions (to be fair, you could say that for lots of all-season tires) but it will certainly exceed expectations for an all-season tire at this price point. Best of all, the 60,000 mile limited manufacturer tread life coverage is what you’d expect from a tire that’s far pricier than this one, making it a tire that punches far above its weight class.
Vehicles the Thunderer Mach II R301 is a good replacement tire for
As an all-season tire, the Mach II R301 is meant for use on many of today’s most popular vehicles. If you drive a Chevrolet Equinox, Chrysler Pacifica, Dodge Grand Caravan, Ford Escape, Honda Civic, Hyundai Elantra, Kia Forte, Nissan Sentra, Toyota Corolla, or Volkswagen Passat, then this might be a tire you want to consider if you’re looking for an affordable set of tires that offers better–than-expected performance year-round.
