Never tried pulling our fifth wheel (15k-40ft) in the snow or ice, but hot or cold weather never a problem. Samson GL 285 g-rated 14 plies had been put on the camper the year before I bought it. I didn't know you were supposed to rotate trailer tires. the front axle tires get most of the side shear from turning. Just had my first blowout with the Samson. Suspension shackles sheared and damaged the tire. Tires have been on the camper four and a half years total. No dry rot plenty of tread left on the other three. I've been very pleased as the prices are affordable. Going to replace all of them just for safety sake and I will absolutely put the Samsung GL 285 back on again. Pull the camper about 8 to 10,000 miles a year depending on work. (Absolute must:Samson G-rated tires on camper, Andersen hitch, RDS aux tank, Airlift airbags, stackable washer/dryer) Hope this helps.
I've got over 100,000 miles on all six tires and still rolling. I have a friend same trailer and tires cost double, constantly having blow outs.
very pleased so far with these tires. only complaint is that i was to receive a gift card and didn"t.
Best tire for trailer ever
Purchased these for my Take 3 car hauler. No issues at all. On this trailer I have 3 axles and on tight turns with a load with my 10 ply tires that came from factory I ran the risk of pulling the tire of the bead. Not so with these tires, they at heavy duty commercial tires and show no sign of sidewall flex during tight turns.
So far very nice tire
Absolutely love these tires. I have a 41' Triple Axle ToyHauler that pushes 18k when fully loaded for the dunes and my 1 year old (bought trailer new in 2015) China Bombs were separated already. I wanted to get a G-Rated all steel tire and Sailun was what I had seen on a lot of 5th wheels but a few friends recommended Samson. I ordered 6 tires, they were shipped to my door in AZ in 2 days and Discount Tire installed all 6 for $110 - total I was into all 6 for less than $1000 installed. - G-rated ALL STEEL carcass - this is a key spec as it has steel belts from bead to bead. These tires weigh in at 63# each. My old e-rated weighed a mere 40#s - 110psi tire for 4,400# load rating per tire - 14-ply - Re-groovable - basically a semi tire for your RV I have been running these over 6 months now in the AZ heat and they are a great tire. You cannot go wrong with these for your Heavy Haulers
This tire was purchased for a 5th wheel RV. Ikept getting blowouts with the tire brand that the manufacturer put on it (235-80-16 Tow master). I have over 10,000 miles on these Samsons and not a problem. The 14 ply rating makes tight turns very easy (where they have to slide sideways). They take 95 psi so they roll easier with better milage. It was a very simple process to order from Simpletire and shipping was fast. Thank you Simple tire.
Samson is a good Trailer Tire. Note to all Customers always keep Air Pressure right in your Tires, it is the life of them.
I pull a trailer that weights 12000 lbs. The 4 single 10 ply rated tires just would not hold up,. They looked like they were low and took a lot of effort to pull, had several blowouts also, I order 4 of the GL285T tires. They have been great so far. The 14 ply rating @ 95 psi helps them roll with less effort, equals better fuel mileage.,, They don't look like they are low of air either. These new tires have been very good for the money. No more blowouts saves me money.
Get technical:
Designed for use on the trailer axle of semi-trucks in urban applications, the Samson Radial Truck GL285T tire features an optimized tread pattern for better handling and stability while also improving traction and promoting even wear. While a sturdy sidewall design improves load-bearing capacity, the special rubber polymers of Radial Truck GL285T allow it to last longer by fending off uneven wear. Additionally, the groovy tread pattern of the Radial Truck GL285T quickly flushes out water to resist hydroplaning.
