  • Established in 2002, Sailun Tire is a China-based tire manufacturer that offers an affordable range of tires for passenger cars, pickups, EVs, commercial vehicles, and trailers. The Sailun Terramax A/T 4S is the manufacturer’s all-terrain tire that’s designed for use on SUVs, Jeeps, pickups, and vans. It is engineered for on- and off-road driving, and comes with many great features that contribute to reliable driving performance.

In this Sailun Terra A/T 4S review, we will take a look at the tire’s features, strengths and weaknesses, vehicle compatibility, and other important details to help the buyers make a well-informed decision.

    Features and Benefits

The Sailun Terramax A/T 4S belongs to the all-terrain tire category, and it offers the best of both worlds by allowing the drivers to switch from on- to off-road driving. The performance of the tire is not affected in any season, whether it is dry, wet, or winter weather. Now let’s get into more detail and learn about the key features and benefits of this tire.

    • Solid on- and off-road performance – The tire features an aggressive tread design that can perform on- and off-road. The tread block placement, the sipe placement, and the angled block placement are such that they offer improved grip on the pavement as well as soft, loose, and rough terrains. The tread can even sail you through deep mud and loose dirt, and at the same time maintain optimum cleaning for better traction.
    • Better dry, wet, and snow traction – The Terramax A/T 4S is engineered to offer all-season performance, which means it is good for use in dry, wet, and wintry weather conditions. The tire is Three Peak Mountain Snowflake certified, which indicates its ability to provide traction and grip in moderate to severe winter weather conditions.
    • Reliable handling and controllability – This tire also doesn’t disappoint when it comes to handling and stability as it features tread elements that enhance steering responsiveness and controllability. The tire is able to maintain precise steering response and act to the driver’s commands in time. A solid center rib is present on the tread center and provides optimum control while driving on paved surfaces.
    • Durable construction and longer service life – Sailun has also ensured that the tire stands solid like a rock and has the ability to absorb driving pressures and spread them across the footprint for reduced risk of irregular wear and longer service life. The durable tread compound reduces the tread wear rate and promotes longevity.
    • Quieter and comfy rides – The center rib of the tire is optimized to offer maximum comfort and the multi-directional sipe system that features extra deep sipes at varying angles also boosts the ride comfort without impacting the traction performance. The tread design is closed on the edges to resist the airwaves from entering the footprint and generating noise, thus offering a quieter and pleasant ride experience.
    • Backed by tread life warranty – Sailun covers the Terramax A/T 4S with a 50,000 mile limited manufacturer tread life warranty, offering the customers a better ownership experience.

This tire is offered between 15- to 20-inch rim sizes, making the tire compatible with a larger set of vehicles. Let’s go over some of its available sizes:

SimpleTire’s view on Sailun Terramax A/T 4S tires

If you’re looking for an affordable all-terrain tire that can serve you both on- and off-road, then the Sailun Terramax A/T 4S is one of the best choices on the market. The tire offers reliable handling performance and maintains better control while driving on the pavement at higher speeds, which is also highlighted by the 8.1 out of 10 SimpleScore for handling. The noise levels as well as comfort are not as great as the premium all-terrain tires available on the market, but can’t be called troublesome. Sailun offers a 50,000 mile limited manufacturer tread life warranty, and the tire’s design also looks very impressive which can enhance your vehicle’s appeal. The traction performance is also reliable, especially on dry and rough terrains, which is also indicated through the 8.1 SimpleScore for traction.

WHile the tire is Three Peak Mountain Snowflake certified, some customers have reviewed that it isn’t a great performer on wet and snow-covered surfaces. Additionally, looking at the SimpleScore for longevity, which is 7.5 out of 10, it can be learned that the tire isn’t the best of the choices for those looking for an all-terrain tire with an excellent tread life.

For the price these are amazing! They perform better in the snow out in Eastern Canada then my dedicated Hercules Winter tires! Smooth riding , quiet, great on gravel and light mud. Wear so far has been very decent. These are a sleeper tire. You wouldn't expect them to be as amazing as they are from the looks.

I bought 4 of these for my GMC truck. They are horrible. They wear super fast and I rotate as recommended by the tire manufacturer. I live in WNY so we get aot of snow. I don't care that they have the 3 peak snow on the tires. I was in 3 inches of snow and was stuck..Had to get pulled out. While the tires were spinning my friend said "check this out, the tires are throwing tread at me !!". I looked and there was black tread all over the snow. They look great and were for a short period of time, road smooth. I was impressed at first. I had my truck aligned when I got them. After 26,796 miles I need all 4 new tires. Maybe I got 4 bad tires??? What are the odds of that ??

These tires have been good overall. I did have one blow out at 55mph on the highway, but it was a rear so it was not too exciting. No idea why it did that, but the whole sidewall just failed. Since I drive very little now that I am retired and do not run off road with this truck . I chalked it up to a defective tire. The rest of my tires including the replacement tire are like new . They do tend to spin on wet surfaces . That is what 4wd is for.

We put these on a service Body F250 that does mostly around town driving and they are performing great. The wet and dry ride and handling is great for this truck. The tires handle the weight well in wet or dry conditions. They handle towing a decently heavy trailer as well. They make you feel confident while working. No ice or snow experience though. They handle our sugar sand or red clay roads great for an A/T tire too. Only done about 5000 miles so far on them so can't comment on the life but other Sailun brand tires we run wear like iron.

These were on my 5th whl when I purchsed it and I'll admit I had concerns having never heard of them Maiden voyage with the rig and I had a slight collision with a curb. Regardless, they then ran cross country 5 times in extreme heat and cold and never gave me any heartache. Only around 26000 miles on them by the 5 year old mark but I replaced them anyway. Plenty of tread left on them except on the typical edges of a tandem axle trailer tire. Only issue I have is I purchased them in the southeast US, and have moved to the Northwest and no dealers seem to carry them locally. Considering a set of LTs to be shipped for the truck.

I've had these tires for about 12,000 miles and they've done terrible . If you drive on asphalt mostly and a dirt road every once in a while these are your tires. For me I drive on asphalt every once in a while and mostly on dirt roads and mud. The thing I hate about this tire is that they don't clear at all. Once they get caked up in mud you lose all traction and it's like driving on slicks in the mud. They do the same in snow they got packed with snow and I slid off the road and totaled my truck I had my truck in 4wd and not even going 20 mph and still slid off. Don't recommend these to anyone

I've had my terramax a/t 31x10.5r15s on my jeep for over a year now. Very little wear and stick to the road wet or dry like they're glued down. They perform well in winter, even though my tj is pretty light. I just keep it in 4wd when it snows. Price was excellent, just a little over $1000 for all 5. I'll buy them again! Not hung up on paying for big name brands.
