  • Launched in 2006, Radar is the flagship brand of Omni United, and offers a diversified range of tires for light trucks, passenger cars, trailers, and commercial vehicles. Its tires are categorized into all-season, all-terrain, rugged-terrain, mud-terrain, UHP, performance, highway, UHP all-season, and summer types. Offering drivers of SUVs, Jeeps, and light trucks a solid off-road performance along with on-road comfort, the Radar Renegade R/T is a rugged-terrain tire engineered to deliver smooth and quiet on-road driving performance, alongside offering mud-terrain tire like superior off-road performance. The tire is acknowledged for its good value offering and comes equipped with many impressive capabilities. In this Radar Renegade R/T tire review, you will unlock the features and benefits, positives and negatives, and various other important details about the tire. Read on!

    Features and Benefits

The Renegade R/T is a rugged-terrain tire, which means they are capable of performing in rugged terrain conditions, like a mud-terrain tire. They can be taken on deep mud, rocky terrains, loose dirt, and extremely challenging uneven terrains. Rugged-terrain tires are also called hybrid-terrain tires, because they come with the capabilities of both all-terrain and mud-terrain tires. Other than going off-road like mud-terrain tires, these tires also offer solid on-road performance and better comfort levels. The Radar Renegade R/T is very much alike and has these qualities. But, it also comes with the capabilities of an all-season tire, which means the tire is optimized to perform in dry, wet, and winter weather performance on pavement.

To give you a better understanding of the Renegade R/T’s capabilities, we have listed the key features and benefits of this tire:

    • Increased stability – The tire features wider center tread blocks that enhance stability by offering greater balance and weight distribution across the tread. Thanks to the sturdy build, the tire remains stable in varied terrain conditions.
    • Better puncture resistance – The 3-ply construction provides greater strength to the tire and reduces the risk of punctures.
    • Enhanced steering responsiveness – The center tread blocks balance the weight of the tire and provide superior steering responsiveness. The wider footprint also helps in providing sure-footed handling on all kinds of surfaces.
    • Even and longer tread wear – The tread of the tire is designed to distribute the driving pressures and provide an even wear. Likewise, the deeper and robust tread blocks ensure slow and longer tread wear.
    • Impressive all- terrain performance – The tread block sizes and shapes of the Renegade R/T are computer-optimized and feature multiple lateral grooves and angled sipes that boost traction on different types of terrains. The dual sidewall design features mud-penetrating dagger-shaped lugs to provide enhanced biting ability when the tire runs through the mud. The tire is M+S (Mud and Snow) certified, which means it can provide strong traction while driving in conditions like muddy terrains and mild snow conditions.
    • Aggressive design – Radar has ensured that the Renegade R/T looks very aggressive and attractive to complement the vehicle's aesthetics. The footprint features big-sized tread blocks with unique grooves and the sidewall features a flaming demon design.
    • Covered by tread life warranty – The Radar Renegade R/T offers good value to its customers by offering a limited manufacturer tread life warranty of up to 45,000 miles.

The best thing about the Radar Renegade is that it is offered in a wide range of tire sizes that vary between 17- to 24-inch rims. Some of its popular tire sizes include:

    Pros and Cons

While Radar claims that the Renegade R/T performs admirably on various kinds of terrains and paved roads, we must know the positives and negatives of the tire to make a better purchase decision.

SimpleTire’s view on Radar Renegade R/T tires

If you love exploring challenging terrains, take your vehicle on the highways, and wish to buy a set of tires that can offer you a better off-roading experience than the typical all-terrain tires, then the Radar Renegade R/T is the best affordable and practical choice for your drive.

Bearing the M+S (Mud and Snow) symbol, the tire is known for its impressive terrain gripping abilities and solid damage resistance. The tire boosts driving confidence in tough off-road conditions and at the same time, it also has on-road driving manners. It is quieter and comfortable on the highways and its steering response is lighter and smoother than many of its counterparts. I put these on a 2014 tundra 4x4 size 285/65/18. They look cool, ride well, and not that loud considering how they look. however, they do not balance well at all. I had these balanced twice with a standard balance machine at two different places to just end up bouncing down the road again... I ended up having them road forced balanced and that made a world of difference. They are not perfect but I can deal with the little bit of bounce that they give out. its really not bad at all, you could easily blame it on the road, its that minimal. Check your local tire shop to see if they have a road force balance machine before ordering.

They look aggressive, slight hum at highway speeds but not noticeable unless you're listening for it. Great traction in wet, dry, and off road

I was pleasantly surprised by the quality of these tires. I had just went through a set a rugged terrain Attoro tires, which I thought preformed well. But I found these for almost $500 cheaper, so I took the risk and bought a set of 4 sized 275/70R18 RT 125QE and had them installed on my 2012 F150 with a 2½" leveling kit (it's oversized but absolutely no rubbing ever) just a day before a 11 day hunting trip. This trip was particularly wet and soggy. I spent the next week and a half sliding around slick gooy muddy clay back roads...but they gripped very well. I stay in 2 wheel drive until I need 4 wheel, and when I got stuck, those tires got me out pretty quickly. Some moments took a little more effort than others, but I never felt i was going to need someone help pull me out. I spent a lot of time over the next year off road and traveling constantly. I keep a logbook of everything i do with my truck, and here's the exact breakdown of the tires. Ordered September 15, 2023 Delivered September 19, 2023 Total cost $934 Installed September 23, 2023 Odometer 153,300 >>>>>>REPLACED<<<<<<<< December 10, 2024 Odometer 182,516 15 total months Total miles 29,216 I probably could have gotten longer life out of them if I kept up on rotations, but i never did, and it was definitely time to replace them. The last 4 months of use, 1 rear tire had a large screw in the center of the tread. But I kept an eye on it without doing anything about it, it never leaked air or anything and it still I bought the exact same tire November 26, 2024 and paid $788. I would recommend these tires. For the amount of miles I spent on rocky, wet, snotty rough backroads, while also being a daily driver, I think I got my monies worth, even if it was a relatively short time span.

Snow they do decent ice not so much but they are not a winter rated tire so that was to be expected and better than an at in the mud ride smoother and quieter than a mud tire we will see how they hold up

Nice tires for the price, big names like Toyo and Nitto won't warranty their A/Ts anymore so I gave these a shot. Only 2k miles on these so far but they ride well so far. No tire roll, great tires off-road, I wish they would grip a little better in dry weather at hard accel but that's not what these tires are made for. Only driven in light rain but no issues.

So far so good...I have zero complaints with this purchase...probably only have 100 miles on them so far so I'm not sure about how long they last but they ride great especially for how aggressive they look! Thinking about these for my truck eventually...
