I bought these for my '07 Pontiac G6 and they have performed very well so far. The only reason I gave a 3 for winter is because there's only some light snow on the ground at the time of writing this, and there hasn't been a real chance to see how it handles on snow yet.

If you’re looking for an affordable all-season tire for a sedan, minivan, or crossover, you have expectations…things like a comfortable and accommodating ride, short braking distances, long wear, low noise, cornering and steering response that are predictable and consistent and good road manners on the highway. Now maybe that sounds like a lot to expect for an affordable tire, but the Otani EK2000 is a tire that can check all those boxes and also offers a generous treadwear warranty.
So how can Otani offer a tire that performs that well, at such an affordable price? What is it about the tire that makes it such a great candidate in the crowded all-season market.? Let’s go in for a closer look with this Otani EK2000 review:
Features and Benefits
- Footprint optimized for maximum contact with the road at all times, equalizing pressure and stresses on the tire for long, even wear
- System of circumferential grooves, angled grooves, and serrated shoulder grooves to evacuate water from the tire’s contact patch and resist hydroplaning in wet weather
- Long-wearing advanced tread compound
- Continuous center rib enhances steering response and straight-line stability on the highway
- Reinforced shoulder blocks reduce tread flex for improved cornering dynamics
- Tread pitch is computer-tuned and randomized to keep road noise low by canceling certain acoustic frequencies
- Low rolling resistance for improved fuel efficiency
- A dense network of full-depth sipes improves traction in wet or light wintry weather
- Backed by a 50,000 mile limited manufacturer tread life warranty.
Pros and Cons
So, is this Otani tire the right choice for your ride and budget? Before you decide, let’s take a look at the tire’s pros and cons.
PROS:
- Generous warranty coverage
- Quiet and forgiving ride
- Solid traction and performance year-round
CONS:
- Handling can get iffy when pushed to the limit
- Not good in winter conditions, and should not be used in moderate to severe winter weather
- Fuel efficiency could be better
SimpleTire’s view on Otani EK2000 tires
If you’re looking for an all-season tire and you don’t want to clean out your bank account, this tire is an excellent option. The 50,000 mile warranty on the Otani EK2000 is more of what you’d expect from premium brands, especially when you remember that many affordable all-season tires don’t offer treadwear coverage at all. Ride quality and noise levels with the Otani are pretty easy to live with, if not quite up to the standards of a Grand Touring tire. Traction and road manners on wet or dry pavement are confident, with control that’s pretty manageable. The solid center rib of the Otani EK2000 enhances steering response so that driver inputs are immediate and direct without ever becoming jumpy or twitchy. Cornering isn’t up to the level of a performance tire, but that’s not what most drivers are looking for when they’re in the market for an affordable all-season tire anyway.
And no, the Otani EK2000 doesn’t perform well in heavy snow, but that’s not what a tire like this was designed for. What you do get with the Otani EK2000 is a tire you can depend on for daily commutes or long road trips on the interstate, at a price point that makes it a great choice for an older vehicle that you don’t want to invest a lot in when it’s time to replace the tires.

No snow yet but they ride great and are well balanced my tire guy said
Tires seem good. Haven't had any winter weather yet. Handle great on a 2007 Malibu.
