  • Nitto Motivo

Owned by Toyo Tires, Nitto is known for making unique tire sizes with aggressive tread patterns that offer excellent grip without costing a bomb. Established in 1949, Nitto manufactures tires for passenger cars, CUVs, SUVs, light trucks, ATVs, and UTVs under different tire categories such as all-season, all-terrain, UHP, mud-terrain, drag racing, and winter. Among its top all-season, ultra-high-performance tires is the Nitto Motivo that delivers great performance on paved roads year-round.

Engineered for use on sedans and coupes, the Motivo features an asymmetric tread pattern with wide circumferential grooves for maximum traction in dry and wet conditions. It comes with alignment indicators wherein you can visually see how the tread is wearing and can fix the problem before it becomes grave. The Nitto tire also features Advanced Siping Technology for better acceleration, optimized tread blocks for a quiet ride, continuous solid center rib for straight-line stability, large shoulder blocks for improved cornering, and a reassuring backup of 60,000 mile limited manufacturer tread life warranty. It is available in a wide variety of tire sizes that cover most of the sedans and coupes on sale.

So, how is the Nitto tire able to perform up to the levels it claims? Let’s find out in this Nitto Motivo tire review. Keep reading.

    Features and Benefits

All-season tires are designed to deliver optimum traction and grip in dry, wet, and light winter weather conditions. Besides regular paved roads, these tires can even tackle light snow. Nitto Motivo features most of the traits of being a good all-season tire, however, it scores a point more by being a UHP tire.

    • Solid year-round grip and traction – The ribbed tread pattern with four wide, deep circumferential grooves quickly flushes out water from the surface to avoid the risk of hydroplaning. The large-size blocks not only provide stability but also improve cornering performance on dry surfaces.
    • New siping technology – The innovative 3D multi-wave sipes come with an interlocking ripple design that firmly grips the surface in the event of braking or acceleration. The additional biting edges of these sipes provide more stability and confidence at high speeds.
    • Low noise – The optimized tread block design features variable pitch sequencing which not only adds comfort but also reduces noise by significant levels.
    • Improved handling and stability – The continuous solid center rib ensures improved straight-line stability and precise steering response. The large shoulder blocks not only enhance stability but also provide even wear.
    • Long-lasting tread – The optimized tread pattern ensures there is the optimal distribution of driving pressure on each block so that there is always a balanced pressure and hence, the tread block wears evenly. Moreover, the advanced silica compound, too, resists uneven wear and boosts gradual, even wear.

    Pros and Cons

While the Nitto tire has a lot to its credit, there are some not-so-cool things as well. Let’s have a quick look at its pros and cons before summing up this Nitto Motivo review.

    Pros

    • Deep and wide circumferential grooves for quick water evacuation
    • Backed by a 60,000 mile limited manufacturer tread life warranty
    • 3D multiwave siping technology for improved braking and acceleration
    • Innovative alignment indicators for alerting the owner in advance
    • Optimized tread block sequencing for a quiet ride
    • Improved stability and handling
    • More affordable than tires from better known brands

    Cons

    • It cannot be driven in severe winter weather conditions.
    • It cannot be driven in off-road conditions
    • Performance in light winter weather conditions could be better

SimpleTire’s view on Nitto Motivo tires

    Nitto Motivo

To sum it up, the Nitto Motivo (starts around $131) is an excellent tire option for the owners of sedans and coupes who want an all-season UHP tire that comes at a reasonable price but doesn’t compromise much on the performance on paved roads. It offers improved traction, grip, wet performance, handling, and stability along with a reassuring 60,000 mile limited tread life warranty from Nitto.

It competes with the likes of the Hankook Ventus S1 Noble2 (H452) (starts around $138), and Toyo Proxes Sport A/S (starts around $119).

Vehicles the Nitto Motivo is a good replacement tire for

The Nitto tire isn’t an OE-fitted tire but it’s an excellent replacement option for vehicles like Acura TLX, BMW 3-Series, Chevrolet Impala, Dodge Challenger, Honda Accord Sport, Infiniti Q50, Lexus LS460, Mazda 6, Mercedes Benz C-Class, Tesla Model 3, Toyota Camry, and others.

Simple Tire was by far the best deal on the market for these highly rated tires. To tell you the truth I was expecting them not to show up, thinking I got duped..I kept waiting for a hitch but nothing ever came. I got excellent tires at a highly budgeted price...I will use Simple Tire again!

These are great tires in all conditions other than snow of course. Only downside is that they wear out faster than other brands

I've had these tires for 4 months on a bmw x6 and I already need to replace them. The tread wear is very very poor. I genuinely recommend paying the difference and getting good tires.
