  • Nexen Tire Corporation

Nexen Tire Corporation is a tire manufacturer with its headquarters in South Korea. It was established in 1942 and has been a player in the market for more than 80 years. Over the years, Nexen’s business has changed and expanded, but their dedication to upholding their brand promise has never wavered. They are dedicated to investigating cutting-edge technologies, developing safe, environmentally friendly products, and enabling families and individuals to travel in safety and comfort.

The Nexen Roadian ATX is an all-terrain tire that provides outstanding handling and control for light trucks and suvs both on and off-road.

But is it the most suitable tire for your car and your budget? Let's take a look at a review of Nexen Roadian ATX to see if it's the right tire for you.

    Features and Benefits

Drivers of light trucks and SUVs require tires that perform well on any terrain because they frequently take their vehicles off-road. If you're looking for an all-terrain tire that can perform over any terrain and in any weather, learning about the features and benefits of the Nexen Roadian ATX will be beneficial.

    • Great all-season traction: The unique tread design, with its siping placement, and the long-lasting compound improve dry, wet, and light winter weather grip. In a wide range of temperatures, the long-lasting compound keeps the rubber flexible. Moreover, the unique tread design prevents hydroplaning while driving in wet conditions.
    • Enhanced controllability: An ideal footprint maintains consistent surface contact. As a result, there is a significant improvement in steering responsiveness and driving stability. Improved cornering and maneuverability result from the precise placement of the shoulder blocks. 3D sipes within the tread offer perfect traction on slick, muddy, and wet surfaces.
    • Better steering responsiveness: While the structure is protected from pressure that could affect the tire, the steering response time is quicker and more accurate to the driver's command.
    • Great all-terrain traction: Thanks to sidewall lugs and deep grooves, the tire offers excellent handling performance on and off-road. Wide grooves, siping detail, and block placement are closely in alignment with the road's surface, which guarantees the tire's outstanding grip on soft, rocky, and uneven terrain. Through slippery mud and snowy road surfaces, the intricate tread and sidewall pattern adds extra biting edges to increase forward motion.
    • Longer lasting tread life: The Roadian ATX's reinforced, 3-ply construction offers strength, durability, and rigidity for a higher load carrying capacity. A new rubber compound increases traction and minimizes the premature and atypical tread wear formations. Additionally, reinforced sidewall and tread pattern boost the tread life, puncture resistance, and towing performance. As driving pressure is evenly distributed across the tread area, the footprint stabilizes and prevents uneven wear.

    Pros and Cons

What does that mean for your vehicle? Does it fit your SUV or light truck well? Let's first consider its Pros and Cons before expressing our final opinion:

    • All-terrain tread with sidewall lugs and deep grooves offer both on-road and off-road traction
    • Backed by a 65,000 mile limited manufacturer tread life warranty for P-metric sizes, and 60,000 mile limited manufacturer tread life warranty for LT sizes
    • Three Peak Mountain Snowflake certification, for non-flotation sizes, ensures that these tires can perform well in harsh winter weather conditions
    • Durable rubber compound to increase traction
    • Reinforced 3-ply construction for durability and better towing performance
    • 3D sipes within the tread enhances tread-to road traction
    • Special tread design prevents hydroplaning
    • Open shoulder design to prevent mud from collecting in the tire tread
    • Dual-sidewall design giving customers options to choose from

Despite its features and benefits, some drivers might find that the tires fall short in the following areas:

    • Capable of off-road use but not designed for extensive off-road use
    • Slightly noisy

    Nexen Roadian ATX tires

For an all-terrain tire, the Nexen Roadian ATX is an excellent choice. I purchased a set of NexenATX tires for my 2017 RAM 3500 dually 4x4. They have performed very well and tread wear looks good. I rotated them once this year. The 60k tread wear warranty did influence my decision to go with Nexen after having problems with the set that came on the truck new. Time will tell but so far so good.

I bought a set of Nexen Roadian ATX's for my 2023 Chevy 1500 with 9k miles. I am now going on my 4th trip back to the shop to try to get these tires to balance in less than 4 weeks. The truck violently shakes at 55mph after the tires show they are balanced. One tire took 3 rows, 6 inches long of sticky weights. These tires looks good on paper but there is no quality control and I am not stuck with junk tires on my $60k truck. I will probably have to eat the cost and get American made tires. I attempted to call to exchange them but I was not able to get any help. Buyer beware do not buy Nexen tires!

Have not had chance too try in snow yet, in rain they seem too perform just as good as they do on dry roads
