Founded in 1942, Nexen Tire is a South Korea-based tire maker that has been producing quality tires in various categories such as all-season, all-terrain, UHP, winter, mud-terrain, and others for passenger cars, light trucks, CUVs, and SUVs.
The Nexen N5000 Platinum is a capable tire line under its all-season range of tires. Designed for use on sedans, CUVs, and SUVs, the tire comes with an optimized tread pattern for increased grip and performance in dry, wet, and light snowy conditions. It features an additional net of sipes spread across the tread for solid traction on most surfaces.
The circumferential grooves quickly remove water, slush, and snow from the contact patch to regain traction and avoid the risk of hydroplaning. Meanwhile, the aggressive shoulders with lateral grooves and sipes, too, aid in clearing the tread for consistent traction in wet conditions. The special rubber polymers provide a balance between flexibility and rigidity for optimum performance under dry and wet conditions. It is available in a wide range of selections from 16 to 20 inches. The N5000 Platinum tires come with a choice of H (up to 130 mph), V (up to 149 mph), and W (up to 168 mph) speed ratings. While the H and V speed-rated tires come with up to 70,000 miles warranty, the W-rated tires carry up to 55,000 miles limited tread wear warranty from Nexen.
So, how does it perform in reality? Let’s delve into details in this Nexen N5000 Platinum tire review to know the answer.
Features and Benefits
All-season tires are engineered to withstand changing weather conditions, and, at the same time, provide superior traction and grip in dry, wet, and light snow. These tires have durable materials to ensure it returns extra longevity. The Nexen tire has most of the traits to qualify for a good all-season tire. Let’s check out the features that make it so.
- Solid year-round performance – The ribbed tread design with multiple sipes ensures adequate grip and traction are maintained in dry and wet conditions. The four longitudinal grooves flush out water/slush quickly from the surface to avoid the risk of hydroplaning. While the solid shoulders with lateral grooves assist in water/slush evacuation, they also ensure confident cornering at moderate speeds.
- Comfortable and quiet – The optimized tread pattern allows for minimal soundwaves to travel inside the vehicle, meaning the driver and passengers get a quiet ride. The flexible sidewall design absorbs bumps to make the drive more comfortable. The N5000 Platinum offers low rolling resistance which leads to high fuel efficiency.
- Extra durability and longevity – The asymmetrical, all-season tread resists uneven wear and boosts even wear. The special silica compound not only aids in improving performance but also helps in prolonging tire life. The optimized contact patch ensures the driving pressure is evenly distributed among the tread blocks to resist uneven wear.

Good tire. Only needed one! Would have bought all 4. Haven't had it long but seems great
I still did not have enough time to test my tires in all conditions. Despite many comments against their usage in electric cars, I decided to give them a chance after speaking with NEXEN engineering team. So far, so good! I still need to test it in higher speed and rainy whether conditions.
I have not drove in the snow with these tires yet. However, they have been amazing in wet and dry conditions. The vehicle drives so much smoother, and they are very quiet. I would defiantly recommend these tires for sedans and light SUV vehicles. I am very happy with this selection.
