  • Mastercraft Tires was introduced more than a century back, and has been a subsidiary of Cooper Tire and Rubber Company since 1930. Manufacturing tires under different categories such as all-season, all-terrain, winter, UHP, and others, the American tire maker has been supplying tires for passenger cars, minivans, SUVs, and light trucks. The Mastercraft Strategy is an all-season, touring tire that promises comfortable ride quality and longer service life.

Designed for passenger cars and minivans, the Mastercraft Strategy features a unique tread design with multiple sipes and three central ribs that not only helps in providing stronger grip but also assists in improving stability and handling on paved roads. While the circumferential grooves clear water quickly from the tread to avoid the risk of hydroplaning, the all-season tread compound allows consistent year-round performance in dry, wet, and light wintry conditions. The tire is backed by a strong 65,000 mile limited manufacturer tread life warranty for T-speed rated sizes and up to 50,000 mile warranty for V- and H-speed rated sizes. The solid shoulders with lateral grooves boost cornering abilities while also ensuring even wear.

So, is it the right value all-season tire that one should opt for? Let’s find out in this Mastercraft Strategy tire review.

    Features and Benefits

All-season tires are engineered to offer maximum traction and grip in dry, wet, and light snow. Their extra durable tread lasts longer and resists the changing environment. The Strategy promises to have the traits of a quality, budget all-season tire.

    • Great year-round performance: The symmetrical tread pattern promotes even wearing of the tread while ensuring optimum grip and traction on paved roads. Dense sipes and strategically placed lateral grooves provide better grip and reduce braking distances. The longitudinal grooves with connecting grooves allow quick water evacuation to resist any chances of aquaplaning.
    • Solid handling and stability: The ribbed tread pattern and solid shoulder design put more rubber on the surface, which improves the handling and stability of the tire. The notched center rib allows precise steering response and boosts handling and stability further. The computer-optimized tread design with variable pitch reduces road noise significantly.
    • Longer service life: The refined tread elements and enhanced shoulder slots ensure the driving pressure is optimally distributed for even wear of the tread. Moreover, the durable tread compound resists irregular wear and, hence, delivers a longer service life.

    Pros and Cons

The Mastercraft tire carries a good amount of advantages along with some not-so-cool aspects. Let’s have a look at the pros and cons of the tire before wrapping up this Mastercraft Strategy review.

Got these used oversized Mastercraft Strategy 205x65x15 inch tires (replacing standard 175x65x14 inch tires) to perfectly fit & fill my small Hyundai Accent's front wheel wells, & lower Accent manual transmission rpms on the highway by 300. The Strategy's are excellently smooth, quiet, & point straight, yet turn corners well. The big boots handle rough roads & bumps better & steering is more precise. The Accent now feels that it belongs on the highway, even tho MPG has gone up! Only had them < 3000 miles, so tire life is undetermined. Had a set of Mastercraft 440's that did reach their advertised tire life & worked OK.
