  • Kumho Solus TA51a

South Korean tire manufacturer Kumho is a subsidiary of Chinese tire company Doublestar, and was originally a business unit of the Kumho Asiana Group. Kumho has been in the market since the 1960s, and has garnered a reputation for providing products with high value and high-quality.

The Kumho Solus TA51a is a quiet all-season tire with a special high-grip compound for consistent traction throughout the year. The tire is perfect for use on sedans, SUVs, coupes, CUVs, and minivans, and is available with a variable limited manufacturer warranty. To find out if it meets your needs or not, read the entire Kumho Solus TA51a review here.

    Features and Benefits

As all-season tires, Kumho Solus tires are more sports-oriented than family-oriented, offering great performance and handling on dry, wet, and light snow roads. During our Kumho Solus TA51a tire review, we found them to be comfortable over long distances. While the wide grooves help evacuate water for better wet traction, 3D interlocking sipes lead to better stability and handling. Specific characteristics of this tire can be known through the following features and benefits:

    • Whisper-quiet ride- Grooves and ribs around the tread break up and reduce road noise for a quiet ride.
    • Consistent year-round use- High dispersion silica and multi-functional polymers within the tread maximize winter grip and reduce treadwear for consistent all-year use.
    • Lengthy available warranty- This tire is available with H- and T-speed ratings. While the H-rated tires have a limited tread life warranty of 65,000 miles, the T-rated sizes are good for 75,000 miles.
    • Prevent hydroplaning- The presence of four circumferential grooves is instrumental in enhancing water evacuation and in preventing hydroplaning.
    • Great handling and stability- 3D interlocking sipes enhance stiffness in tread blocks during cornering and braking, thereby leading to better handling and stability.
    • Good fuel economy- Low rolling resistance on these tires leads to a good fuel economy.

    Pros and Cons

SimpleTire’s view on Kumho Solus TA51a tires

    Kumho Solus TA51a

For drivers looking for performance and a quiet ride, the Kumho Solus TA51a is an ideal tire. It features a highly sophisticated silica-rich rubber compound for use throughout the year, which includes driving adventures. Ribs in the main channel grooves break up the resonant noise to deliver a quiet ride, and grip on these tires is great for any kind of condition. Noise cancellers on the tire prevents air from running in a straight line so that it bounces off the tire to make it quiet. Being available in several sizes allows it to be used across vehicles in different categories. At its price point, we give a high Kumho Solus TA51a rating as it is cheaper than the Falken Sincera SN201 A/S and General Altimax RT45 while providing similar features.

Also, I liked that I was not tied to Discount Tire for installs like on Tire Rack (DT,Has purchased Tire Rack) and DT charges $25/tire where others charged $18-19/Tire, spin balanced, new stems and rotations, flat repairs etc...like DT but Simple Tire went a step further and gave me 2 years flat repair FOR FREE! Just can not beat that! Very glad I found you SimpleTire!

After my tire installation The shop charged me for installation again. they were not paid by you. They charged $99.00 for their labor. You charged me $127.96. I got no cash back. My tire installer did not understand that your foreign speaking rep tried to pay for installation but my tire shop did not understand. You Owe Me $28.00 If you care about my business ever again in the future you will call me with a reply.

My priority was a smooth quiet ride and these tires are excellent in those categories on my 2011 Toyota Camry LE. Tires are still new and I have not pushed the limits on braking or cornering. Appear excellent for a commuter. Footprint may be a bit smaller than some other brands

Didn't realize my warranty from prior tire purchase was obtainable until after I purchased a new set. Car is 4 years old and has under 40,000 miles. Purchased 2 sets of 4 tires in less than 2 years, so I'd say my first set should've been covered. My fault for not being more aware.

I've put 10,000 on them so far and I like everything about the tire. Quiet, soft ride that handled the wet roads well. Looking forward to seeing how well they do in the snow with an awd car.
