Founded in 1960, Kumho Tire is a South Korean tire manufacturer that has arisen to become one of the top 10 global tire manufacturers and delivers its products in over 160 countries. The ethos of the brand lies in providing high-quality and reliable tires at an affordable price point, and the Ecsta V730 fits that mark.

The Kumho Ecsta V730 is an ultra-high-performance tire that’s designed for use on performance-oriented coupes and sedans, sports cars, and supercars. The tire offers drivers excellent handling and traction in dry and wet road conditions.

While on paper the Kumho Ecsta V730 seems impressive, does it also provide the same level of performance on-road? Let’s find out the detailed specifications, features, and benefits of this Kumho Ecsta V730 tire review.

    Features and Benefits

Ultra-high-performance tires are designed to offer drivers reliable performance when driving at high speeds in their performance vehicles. They are suitable to be driven in dry and wet conditions, and are preferred by drivers with performance vehicles. The Ecsta V730 tires fit in the same category and are extreme performance tires built to maximize grip and handling in competitive environments.

The ultra-high grip tread compound with fine carbon black and synthetic resins ensures enhanced grip and consistency, which makes the Ecsta V730 an excellent choice for drivers. Here’s a detailed view of the features and benefits of Kumho Ecsta V730 tires.

    • Improved Traction And Steering Response: The asymmetric innovative tread design with wide-outside shoulder blocks improves traction and steering response.
    • Enhanced Wet Performance: The two circumferential grooves evacuate water, reducing the risk of hydroplaning and improving wet grip.
    • Enhance Driving Performance: The reinforced center rib enhances straight-line driving performance while improving dry road responsiveness.
    • Resistance to Heat: The wave-shaped micro-groove application improves heat dispersion when driving at high speeds.
    • Excellent Durability: The internal construction and the high-strength carcass improves the handling and durability of the tire.

Kumho Ecsta V730 tires are available in different sizes from 15 to 19-inches and are designed for passenger vehicles.

    Pros and Cons

Now that we know the benefits and features of Kumho Ecsta V730, let’s take a look at some of the pros and cons of the tire to help you make an informed decision. Here are a few pros of the tire:

    • The ultra-high tread compound and carbon black and synthetic resins improve handling and allow for better grip on dry and wet roads with an extended tread life.
    • Engineered with two circumferential grooves to reduce the risk of hydroplaning.
    • The heat dispersion technology prevents burnout when driving at high speed.
    • The high-strength carcass and robust internal construction improve durability.

While Kumho has pulled all the stops for its all-season performance touring tire, these are some of the cons that you should consider.

    • Not suitable to be driven in extreme icy or snowy conditions.
    • Does not come with a limited manufacturer tread life warranty.

SimpleTire’s view on Kumho Ecsta V730 tires

If you are looking for an ultra-high-performance tire that will deliver reliable performance for your sports or performance-oriented vehicles, the Kumho Ecsta V730 might be the right fit for you. The ultra-high grip rubber compound enhances grip and handling performance while the tire's wide outer tread blocks boost control when turning by putting more rubber on the road. An optimized design evenly distributes pressure when driving to reduce uneven wear, and the Ecsta V730's wide circumferential grooves quickly remove water from the tire to reduce the risk of hydroplaning and improve handling in wet weather, making Ecsta V730 a reliable tire.

However, if you want a limited tread life warranty, you can go with Nexen N Fera SU1 with a slightly less price. That being said, the Ecsta V730 performs at a higher level when it comes to traction and handling capabilities.

Vehicles the Kumho Ecsta V730 is a replacement tire for

I used two sets of these for Track Cross days at Summit Point on two very different cars. These Kumho V730's are fantastic. I put a set of 205/55-16 on a Mercedes 91 300TE 4matic a while back and it had more grip than power. Great on the track. Very composed on this AWD wagon. I then put a set 235/45-17 on a 2006 Saab 9-3 Aero and took it to a track weekend. These tires really worked great. It was cold in the morning (35-40 degrees) and the tires took a while to heat up. They were squirmy when cold, with the tail coming around on aggressive corners. Easy to control and no bad habits. They broke away predictably. They don't like being cold. They were much better in the afternoon on the first day with temps in the 50's. On the second day, temps were in the mid 60's and these things stuck like glue. I think they are pretty tough and have even wear and will last quite a few sessions at the track. I drive about 100 miles to the track and they are fine on the street as well. Good ride and not loud. Overall, a fantastic 200TW tire at a good price.

This tire is absolutely amazing, I have these on my 97 Miata and the grip is unbelievable. Even it being a 200tw tire they are still lasting quite a while even with 4000 miles of hard driving on them.
