These are excellent tires for the price. Quiet, smooth, grippy, responsive. However, as all-season tires go, they are terrible in any amount of snow (but are still way better than summer tires on those cool 50F mornings). Also, the Hankook's like to follow grooved in pavement. Crossing SD on I-90 involves hundreds of miles of wiggling.

South Korean tire manufacturer Hankook Tire offers a wide range of quality tires at reasonable prices compared to the top league of tire makers. It rolls out tires for passenger cars, minivans, CUVs, SUVs, light trucks, EVs, trailers, and commercial vehicles in a variety of different categories such as all-season, all-weather, all-terrain, UHP, winter, summer, and more.
Inspired by motorsport tire technology, the Ventus S1 Evo Z AS X H129A is the company’s all-season tire that’s designed for SUVs and light trucks. While the 3D sipes maintain the tire’s rigidity during accelerating on dry, wet, and light snow, the wide shoulder blocks increase contact patch area for better traction. During warm conditions, the special tread compound perfectly interlocks with the surface for maximum braking and handling performance.
Making the Hankook tire deliver maximum performance and long-lasting carcass are the Aramid Hybrid Reinforcement Belt, which allows for better impact absorption during acceleration. Folded Belt Edge Tap for improved durability, High Strength Steel Belt Wire for high external impact absorption and improved comfort, Dual Layer Fiber Stiffener for extra durability, and strong jointless bead wire for reassuring tire and wheel attachment all the time. Backed by Hankook’s limited tread life warranty of 45,000 miles, the tire is available in an array of sizes covering most SUVs.
How is it able to perform the way it claims? Let’s find out in this Hankook Ventus S1 Evo Z AS X H129A tire review. Keep reading.
Features and Benefits
All-season tires are loved for their year-round performance in dry, wet, and light winter weather conditions. They last long, and provide low noise with comfortable ride quality. Built by using motorsport technology, the Hankook tire makes for a good case of a capable all-season tire.
Improved grip and traction – An asymmetric tread pattern with multiple ribs provides improved handling and consistent grip and traction in dry, wet, and light snow. Four wide circumferential grooves allow for quick water dispersal to avoid the risk of hydroplaning. The 3D sipes ensure the tread rigidity is maintained when accelerating on dry or wet surfaces.
Long-lasting tread – The use of an Aramid Hybrid Reinforcement Belt, Folded Belt Edge Tap, and jointless bead wire not only adds strength to the carcass but also improves its durability and performance on different surfaces. While the High Strength Steel Belt Wire enhances ride comfort and absorbs external impacts, the Dual Layer Fiber Stiffener maintains the structural strength of the tire.
Improved stability and low noise – The advanced bead packing structure not only improves the sidewall stiffness and durability of the tire but also boosts stability and performance. The optimized pitch sequencing and beveled block edges are good enough to restrict sound waves from traveling inside the cabin and return a quiet and comfortable ride.
