My stock tire was a Parelli Scorpion tire and was decent for only 30k miles and wearing fast. Up in NH there's plenty of snow and ice. The stock tires were not too good in the snow. I didn't want to spend 2,000 on all weather and dedicated winter. So instead i bought the Alklimate XL. All tires are a compromise, but this is better winter vs summer tire. I'd say 65% winter and 35% summer tire, but I saved a grand by not having to buy 2 sets. It works very well on ice and snow, but it's a little louder then the stock tires. When it's very cold out the ride is a little harsher until the tires warm up. The gas mileage is the same with both tires. In my opinion if you live on the East Coast and North of NY you may need these tires, because their safer in the winters over the stock. South of NY you may be wasting your money.

I bought these to replace my Michelin Cross climate 2. Those were good tires and lasted a while, but these ones feel even better in the winter Already. They are quieter than Michelin were too and go better in the snow. only had them for a little over a month so can't justify treadwear, but I do like them better than my cross climate and I would definitely get these again over those.

Before these tires I had the Bridgestone Weatherpeaks and they were great but wore down relatively quickly. As some who lives in Vermont and owns a car at a younger age, I look for all weather tires since it prevents me having to go to the shop, buy a set of steel rims and get tires switched over. So far we've experienced some snow and the Falkens handled exceptionally. If you are looking for a tire that does it all I'd say go with all weathers if you have AWD or 4x4. Where I live doesn't experience super heavy snow. With AWD you should be fine. So far though 10/10.

Limited miles so far, but have been good on wet and icy roads. Maybe a little louder than all seasons on dry roads but worth it in Northern MN. Haven't driven in more than an inch of snow yet but they did well in that. I was able to make it up my icy/snowy driveway which is better than most all seasons can do.
