American tire brand Cooper has four state-of-the-art manufacturing facilities in the US for light truck and passenger tires. Tires from the brand are known for top notch stability and handling, and the Discoverer H/T Plus is no exception. Cooper was first visible in 1914 as a company that provided tire repair kits and patches. The company gradually expanded into other parts of the world and is one of the top manufacturers today, in the same league as Goodyear and Bridgestone. As a highway tire, the Cooper Discoverer H/T Plus offers tremendous comfort over long distances. To know more about whether it is suitable for your light truck or SUV, read through this Cooper Discoverer H/T Plus review.
Features and Benefits
The Cooper Discoverer H/T Plus is available with aggressive tread patterns that make it look good on SUVs and light trucks. During the Cooper Discoverer H/T Plus tire review, we noticed a great combination of on-road and off-road ability, although it would be a mistake to expect them to deliver the same traction as mud-terrain tires on tricky terrains. Learn the complete capabilities of this tire through the following features and benefits:
- Made for the long haul- This tire is suitable for covering long distances, whether for travel or for hauling heavy loads.
- Great stability and handling- The alternating tread block geometry here provides great stability and handling.
- Safe on wet surfaces- The tread has four wide grooves that eliminate water and slush for excellent wet traction and also prevent hydroplaning.
- No irregular tread wear- Lateral siping and grooves prevent irregular tread wear and further boost wet traction.
- Protected rims- A built-in Rim Protector prevents tire and wheel damage in case the wheel hits a curb or in any other situation.
Pros and Cons
The sleek tread pattern on these tires is befitting of modern trucks and SUVs. Expect the rubber compound to be soft, enabling the tire to firmly grip the road. An optimized pitch initially guarantees less noise, though it may get a little noisy after two years or more. A rim protector is useful in protection from curb damage. Find out more about Cooper Discoverer H/T Plus through the following pros and cons:
Pros:
- Comfortable and quiet ride
- Great wet traction and handling
- Good mileage
- Tremendous on-road performance
- Ideal for aftermarket wheels
Cons:
- No limited manufacturer warranty
- Winter grip not as great as other tires
- Not great for extended off-road driving
SimpleTire’s view on Cooper Discoverer H/T Plus tires
Though dry traction may not be described as much as wet traction above, the Cooper Discoverer H/T Plus delivers a good performance in the dry too. True to its name, the Discoverer H/T Plus is built for individuals to comfortably traverse the length and breadth of this country on its highways. Light truck owners who have mud tires but wish to feel comfortable on highways can switch to these. The low noise on these tires, despite being fitted on light trucks and SUVs, is enough for a high Cooper Discoverer H/T Plus rating. These highway tires will enable you to see a combination of features from all-season and all-terrain tires.

These tires offer great, safe traction in dry and wet conditions on my 2011 f150. Very quiet and smooth ride. Live in Houston area so I can't speak on snow traction and have only had them for couple months so as far as wear, I have to trust Coopers rating. My next set of tires will be the same. Love these tires
I live in Texas so we don't get much of a winter down here, but they do good in the mud and dry and rain.
I bought a set of 305/50r20 Cooper Discover HT plus and they came really fast! Plus you can't beat the prices of these people my next set will definitely be purchased through simpletire.com
I have been happy with my tires so far. I bought the truck with mud tires and switched to these because I do mostly highway driving. The ride quality improved exponentially and the road noise is minimal. I have not used the Tires in the winter so I can't speak on the snow capabilities. I plan on running a separate wheel tire combo in the winter. A great tire at a fair price.
I found that they are an excellent value..I'm a moderate driver, not someone that beats their equipment/ vehicles... though I do tow older classic cars often ( my tires are rated xl - plus for heavier loads) and found these to be stable and track well pulling some serious weight ('62 cadillac, etc.)... Tread wear was a pleasant surprise as well. Overall I'd recommend these 'plus' load tires. They've been good for my needs.
Tread design looks good. But on the roads I drive, the wear is not what I thought they would be. Getting less than 20,000 miles before the tread gets worn down.
great tire, very happy much nicer than my old good years' i don't have to put my truck in 4WD to take off on a wet hill. smooth and quiet ride. joe s.
These tires have done very well in rain. The tread wear is minimal. Very good traction. Fuel economy has been very good. I am a fan of Cooper tires for many years.
