Continental Tires is a leading innovator in the tire industry, and started manufacturing tires as early as 1871. Continental is the manufacturer of the first-ever automotive tire and today delivers exceptional tires for a range of vehicles such as sedans, SUVs, CUVs, Jeeps, minivans, and other off-road racing vehicles, and commercial vehicles.

The Continental Cross Contact UHP, as the name suggests, is an ultra-high-performance tire that’s designed for use on four-wheel drive SUVs, and light trucks. The tire offers exceptional performance when driving at high speeds and is designed for use in warmer weather. The tire has several features and benefits that we will discuss in this Continental Cross Contact UHP tire review, along with its pros and cons, and SimpleTire’s views on the tire.

    Features and Benefits

Ultra-high-performance tires are designed for use on sports and performance vehicles and ensure great traction, control, reliability, and performance when driving at higher speeds. UHP tires can have all-season or summer rubber compounds, and could be used in racing events. These treads have rubber compounds that are resistant to high temperatures and shorter braking distances for enhanced performance.

The Continental Cross Contact UHP is a UHP summer tire, and should not be used in temperatures consistently below 45 degrees Fahrenheit. Here are some noteworthy features and benefits of the tire.

    • Improved grip: The special rubber compound within the tires improves grip strength and reduces rolling resistance.
    • Shorter braking distance: The tire has maximized ground contact to ensure shorter braking distance and improved cornering stability.
    • Run-flat technology: A self-supporting sidewall reinforcement (SSR) with low-heat generating compound, durable bead wire, and supportive bead filler helps the tire run even when deflated. This means that drivers can expect to go up to 50 miles at speeds less than 50 MPH after a puncture or pressure loss.
    • Increased protection: The ContiSeal technology seals damaged tire tread in case of penetration by foreign objects to reduce the risk of flat tires when driving.
    • Continental Total Confidence Plan: Covered by Continental Total Confidence Plan that includes customer satisfaction trial, road hazard coverage, flat tire roadside assistance, and emergency trip interruption coverage. (Check the manufacturer’s website for more information.)

The Continental Cross Contact UHP is available in a variety of tire sizes ranging from 18 to 21 inches.

    Pros and Cons

    • Manufactured using innovative technology for optimized performance.
    • Run-flat technology avoids accidents in the case of flat tires.
    • Backed by Continental Total Confidence Plan

Also, consider these cons before making your decision.

    • Cannot be used in winter weather conditions.
    • The tread can wear irregularly.
    • Does not come with any limited manufacturer tread life warranty.

SimpleTire’s view on Continental CrossContact UHP tires

If you are looking for a set of ultra-high-performance tires that can deliver exceptional performance, and are planning to use them in hotter climates, then Continental CrossContact UHP might be a good choice for you.
