  • In the commercial tire market, Carlstar Tire has been a renowned name for more than a hundred years. Headquartered in Tennessee in the US, the tire brand has established its identity for manufacturing durable tires at cost-effective prices. Carlstar primarily caters to high-quality tires for industrial applications, including ATVs, OTRs, agricultural equipment, and garden and lawn vehicles. Known for its innovative features and designs, Carlstar is a great choice for industrial tire buyers. It offers a wide tire lineup, including industrial, all-terrain, golf, and all-season.

Designed for RVs, boats, toy haulers, or livestock trailers, the Carlstar USA Trail is a highway tire designed for trailers. The USA Trail offers year-round traction with a detailed tread design that comes with zigzag circumferential grooves, which reduces the risk of hydroplaning and boosts wet traction. While its bias ply construction ensures increased resistance to punctures and a smoother ride, the wrap-around tread design improves traction. It features zigzag grooves and strategically placed sipes that allow increased wet traction. With constant road contact, the USA Trail improves steering response and stability while driving.

So, is it worth going for? Let's try to answer in this Carlstar USA Trail review.

    Features and Benefits

Trailer tires are engineered to be strong and long-lasting and are often used on toy haulers, RVs, or livestock trailers. These tires are capable of hauling loads across long distances on paved roads and highways. With a robust construction, they are highly resistant to damage or punctures.

    • Long durability: The USA Trail’s bias ply construction boosts its durability and load-bearing capacity as it promotes stiffer sidewalls that stabilize the tire shape to improve performance and resistance to damage and punctures, and offers enhanced control over the trailer. Compared to radial tires, bias tires can endure higher pressure and load, which makes this Carlstar tire ideal for towing or hauling.
    • Better handling: The flat footprint and bias construction work together to allow increased stability and handling. Thanks to the bias structure, the tire remains stable and doesn’t sway either way during the drive. With its flat footprint, the USA Trail maintains consistent road contact to enhance steering response time and accuracy, adhering to the instructions of the towing vehicle to enhance safety and performance while towing.
    • Year-round use: The optimized tread design and symmetric tread pattern with zigzag circumferential grooves improve grip in dry, wet, and winter weather conditions. Thanks to the circumferential grooves, it eliminates slush and water to mitigate the risk of hydroplaning. The zigzag tread pattern boosts traction as additional biting edges grip the road for a better towing experience year-round.

    Pros and Cons

While the USA Trail offers several benefits, it has some drawbacks too. Let’s glance over its pros and cons before we sum up the Carlstar USA Trail tire review.

    PROS:

    • Offers a long lifespan, thanks to its strong bias ply construction
    • Ideal for all-season use as it offers adequate traction in different conditions
    • Capable of enduring higher load pressure without sustaining damages
    • Better resistance against hydroplaning with its zigzag circumferential grooves

    CONS:

    • It doesn’t come with a mileage warranty
    • It is not suitable to be mounted on light trucks

The USA Trail is an Excellent Trailer Tire. They pull well on my 5' X 8' Tilt Utility Trailer and haul loads close to their weight limit if steel valves are used and recommended pressure is used. They normally last me about 10 years in the Texas Sun. I often haul a Ford 1210 Tractor. Tire Size 205 - 75 - D14

The trailer I bought had these Carlisle on it. They worked well for me so when it came time for replacements I bought new ones.
