  • Arroyo might not be a familiar brand for you, but they offer a lineup of passenger and light truck tires (as well as commercial truck and bus tires) that are packed with innovation, quality, and value. The Arroyo Grand Sport A/S is no exception; this is a tire that delivers all-season traction along with crisp cornering, short braking distances, and nimble steering response of an ultra-high-performance tire, all at a price point that’s lower than that of many premium brands.

The Grand Sport A/S is designed for performance and value, but don’t just take our word for it here – let’s go in for a closer look with this Arroyo Grand Sport A/S review:

    Features and Benefits

Here are a few of the bullet points that make the Arroyo Grand Sport A/S a standout performer and a great value:

    • 5-rib tread design boosts traction and resists hydroplaning with four wide circumferential grooves that channel water through and behind the tire’s contact patch
    • Innovative anti-eccentric-wear ribs toward the shoulders are designed to fight uneven wear, with uniform contact pressure that puts more rubber in contact with the road
    • Advanced tread formulation is engineered for long wear and tenacious grip
    • Tread pitch variation is computer-tuned to cancel certain frequencies and resonances for a quiet driving experience
    • Lateral and angled grooves boost traction on wet or dry pavement and disrupt airflow across the tread for lower noise
    • A dense network of sipes multiplies traction with hundreds of hair-thin slits that serve as biting edges in wet or wintry weather
    • Backed by a 40,000 mile limited manufacturer tread life
    • Solid center rib in tread enhances steering response as well as straight-line stability on the highway

    Pros and Cons

So, is this Arroyo tire the right choice for your ride and budget? Before you decide, let’s consider the tire’s pros and cons.

    PROS:

    • Handling properties are great
    • Ride quality is compliant and refined
    • Dependable traction on wet or dry pavement

    CONS:

    • The tire should not be used in moderate to severe winter weather conditions
    • Some drivers report excessive noise on some pavement surfaces

SimpleTire’s view on Arroyo Grand Sport A/S tires

Arroyo classifies the Grand Sport A/S tire as a UHP all-season tire, and we feel that’s a pretty fair assessment. The Grand Sport A/S delivers confident performance in rainy or light wintry conditions, with handling, cornering, steering response, and braking that are more in line with what you might expect from a summer tire or UHP tire. That’s a real plus when you bear in mind that most UHP and summer tires use a tread compound that’s softer and stickier for good mechanical grip on the pavement, but which will also stiffen up and lose traction on colder days. Most tire manufacturers advise against using UHP or summer tires if temperatures are below 40-45 degrees F. Not so with the Arroyo Grand Sport A/S, a tire that’s a good pick for year-round performance thanks to its advanced silica-rich tread compound.

Cornering is confident right up to the vehicle’s limits, braking distances are short and steering feedback is great. Straight-line stability on the highway is as secure as if you’re driving an armored car, but it’s never sluggish – steering response to driver commands is sharp without being touchy or overly sensitive. The 40,000 mile warranty might sound a little short but remember that most UHP tires don’t offer treadwear mileage coverage at all. Whether you like to push the envelope a little and explore what your vehicle can do or if you just need good value in an all-season tire that offers great handling, it’s our opinion that the Grand Sport A/S from Arroyo is a great value in an all-season tire for sedans, minivans, coupes, and crossovers. Our SimpleScore rankings for the Grand Sport A/S are pretty respectable for such an affordable tire: 8.6 for longevity, 8.4 for handling, 8.2 for traction, and a composite score of 8.1 overall.

I've only put 2k miles on them so far. I'm in Florida, so a combination of dry and wet driving with them. They handle predictively in dry and wet conditions, directionally stable and hold well to the road for an all-season tire. Not as good as my HP summer tires they replaced, but much quieter and more comfortable for rough roads. I am a spirited driver, so these are on the lower end of what I would like to have, but don't feel really need the stick-like-glue Conti's I had prior. Curious to see how they wear, to date, I am pleased. 2018 Porsche Macan S.

I purchased these tires and when I went to get them checked due to a strange noise, I was made aware of the tires being close to blowing out due to wear on the inside of the tires (all 4). I had to replace 4 tires and filed a warranty claim which was denied. The company claims I ran all 4 tires under inflated. I have automatic tire pressure sensors and regularly get my wheels aligned/rotated. I will never purchase from this company again. I wouldn't suggest these tires to anyone. I will say that simple tire customer service representatives have been very helpful throughout this process.

Tire tread wore down so fast it was actually impressive to be honest. On a car that is lowered slightly. Daily driven about 16 miles a day to work, not driven on weekends. Drove one long road trip and the wires were showing on all four tires in some areas. It was random also, like some wore directly dead center, and others were outer wall or inner wall. A bad tire rubber compound. Horrible in rain, decent in summer. Noisy when compared to my previous tires (Nito 555). Dont cheap out, I needed to register the car, and my travel wheels needed new rubber. (I ship the car from overseas with crappy wheels to keep the boat pirates from wanting to take them).

Perfect replacement and much cheaper than the continental tires and no difference in performance.

Been running a set of 265/40/21 on my B8.5 Audi SQ5 since January. Before that I ran Continental Extreme Contact DSW06 tires. They wore out quickly, they sucked in the rain. Anytime there was standing water on the road you better be ready for an adventure. These Arroyo Grand Sport A/S tires are superior and half the cost. I went from paying over $1700 for a set of tires to less than $500 back in January 25'. These tires are now around $650, but still a great deal. Liked them so much, I purchased a set for each of the other two vehicles in the garage.
