  • Armstrong tires are known to offer tremendous value for money, with the company dedicating itself to keep road users on and off-the-road. Originally founded in 1912 by George F. Armstrong in New Jersey, this company became a well-known brand in the next 50 years. It was purchased by Italian brand Pirelli in the 1980s and then by ZAFCO in 2012 when it was about to be phased out. ZAFCO is a diverse tire manufacturer today with respectable domestic operations, being known for both passenger and commercial vehicles such as sedans, coupes, CUVs, SUVs, and minivans. Amongst Armstrong tires, you will be reading the Armstrong SKI-Trac PC review today.

    Features and Benefits

Looking for a suitable tire to handle harsh winter conditions? Look no further than the Armstrong SKI-Trac PC, a studless winter tire that’s manufactured specially for passenger cars. It has various features to grip on water, slush, and snow. The Armstrong SKI-Trac PC rating receives a further boost in terms of grip by being Three Peak Mountain Snowflakes Certified. Take a look at the tire’s features and benefits in detail below:

    • Best used in cold climates- They’re built specifically for extreme weather conditions and so we cannot be sure about their grip at temperatures above 45 degrees Fahrenheit.
    • Great handling and traction- The unidirectional tread pattern ensures great handling performance and traction
    • Aquaplaning resistance- Four wide circumferential grooves help evacuate water and slush for preventing aquaplaning and ensuring good grip in the wet.
    • Shorter stopping distances- Optimized 3D sipes bite into the road to decrease stoppage distances and enhance handling
    • Quiet ride- The tire is built with a computer optimized tread design, which ensures maximum quietness on the roads
    • Enhanced stability- A directional tread pattern helps to enhance stability. However, they need to be periodically rotated from front to back or vice versa.

    Pros and Cons

No need to be worried about the braking power of your vehicle in snow as the SKI-Trac has got your back with high density sipes. You are bound to be surprised by the amount of controllability experienced with these tires in the cold. Given below are the SKI-Trac’s pros and cons:

    Pros

    • Excellent winter and wet traction
    • Great handling
    • Low road noise

    Cons

    • No limited manufacturer’s warranty
    • Not suitable for use when temperatures are consistently above 45 degrees Fahrenheit

SimpleTire’s view on Armstrong Ski-Trac PC tires

The Armstrong SKI-Trac is a great option if you live in an area affected by constant snow and rain. What’s more, it is available at a very affordable price and much more affordable than the Nokian Hakkapeliitta 5 and Sumitomo Ice Edge. It also boasts of a variety of features such as optimized 3D sipes, wide grooves, and a computer-optimized design. Not all tires are meant for winter, but Armstrong SKI-Trac definitely is. Drive comfort also remains high while the tires are in motion. In short, there’s no denying that the Armstrong SKI-Trac displays better winter grip and wet/slush traction.

So far after one month. These seem like a great buy. Grip well in wet and snow covered roads, soft grippy composite tire. Haven't had long enough to see how treadwear will be. I recommend these tires.
