If you’ve got a truck, Jeep, or SUV that’s equipped with four-wheel-drive and lots of torque, you need a set of tires that will complement that truck’s potential if you ever leave the pavement. All-terrain tires are a great choice and a great balance of road manners, low noise, precise handling, and a comfortable ride on the pavement, with dependable traction in mud, sand, dirt, slush, or snow. The Americus All Terrain is a tire that checks all those boxes, and at a price point that’s way less than you might expect considering its features and performance.

So why are drivers so enthused about this tire? We’re going to dive in for a closer look at this great do-all tire in this Americus All Terrain review:

    Features and Benefits

All-terrain tires balance on- and off-road performance, so they need a specific set of features to truly provide the best of both worlds to drivers. Here’s what the All Terrain has:

    • Aggressive all-terrain tread pattern with high void ratio for consistent traction and better self-cleaning of mud, snow, sand, rocks, and dirt
    • Variable circumferential grooves evacuate water from the contact patch to resist hydroplaning
    • Shoulder design boosts wet-weather traction, load capacity, and encourages even wear
    • Tread pitch is randomized and computer-tuned to help cancel road noise for a quiet ride on the highway
    • Massive shoulder lugs wrap around for improved lateral traction, enabling you to claw through mud and dig out of ruts
    • Damage-resistant construction and high ply-rating further increase durability
    • Shoulder lugs are pre-drilled for easy installation of studs (where permitted) for extra traction in extreme winter conditions
    • 3D sipe pattern lends hundreds of extra biting edges to dig in for traction in snow or slush as well as enhancing wet-weather grip
    • Backed by a 55,000 mile limited manufacturer tread life warranty
    • Innovative connected center rib for extra rigidity, stability on the highway and offroad traction and performance

    Pros and Cons

So, is this the right tire for your ride and budget? Let’s take a look at some of the All Terrain’s strengths:

    PROS:

    • Durable and tough tread compound allows for confident off-road performance and a higher towing capacity
    • Solid traction on- and off-road
    • Pre-drilled for studs, where permitted, to enhance traction in severe winter weather conditions
    • Backed by a 55,000 mile limited manufacturer tread life warranty
    • Looks great on a variety of trucks and SUVs

    CONS:

    • Could be quieter
    • Not great in heavy, deep mud
    • Not suitable for aired-down rock crawling
    • Not the most fuel efficient

SimpleTire’s view on Americus All Terrain tires

There are plenty of choices on the market when it comes to all-terrain tires for light trucks, Jeeps, and SUVs, and they can be about as expensive as you have money to spend on them. The Americus All Terrain is designed for great performance on- or off-road, and that’s exactly what you can expect. The All Terrain’s unique connected center rib makes it a great performer offroad while enhancing high-speed stability on the pavement, the tough tread compound and internal construction make it durable and it offers civilized behavior on the highway. The pre-drilled shoulders make it easy to install studs for deep snow (check with local laws to see if your state allows studded tires) and its 55,000 mile tread life warranty is better than that of a lot of far more expensive all-terrain tires.

All in all, the Americus All Terrain presents an excellent value and performance for a wide range of trucks, Jeeps and SUVs. We think you’ll be surprised at what this tire can do for your truck.

Vehicles the Americus All Terrain is a good replacement tire for

All-terrain tires are commonly used on Jeeps, light trucks, and SUVs, and the Americus All Terrain is no different. If you drive a Chevrolet Tahoe, Dodge Durango, Ford F-150, GMC Yukon, Honda Ridgeline, Jeep Wrangler, Nissan Titan, RAM 2500, or Toyota Tundra, and want an affordable tire that offers better-than-expected performance on any terrain, then this is a tire you might want to consider.

Installer could barely get bead to seal at 100psi. Took close to 2 hours. Got first lake effect today! Time will tell!

Overall tires are good. I was expecting a little Beefier tire for an All-Terrain but not bad. Wear seems to be good but I only have about a 1000 miles on them.

Tire price was excellent, low noise, aggressive tread, can't wait to take them into the snow this winter. Excellent choice for the money!
