  • All-season tires are the most popular segment of the tire business for a good reason, including in the light truck and SUV sector. All-season tires are designed for reliable traction year-round, including good performance in wet weather or light snow. All-season tires deliver long, even treadwear, low noise, good road manners, predictable and stable handling and cornering, short braking distances, and a ride that’s forgiving and smooth. They’re a good jack-of-all-trades tire for a wide variety of vehicles and drivers.

All-season tires are available at every price point you can think of, from lesser-known brands to top-tier premium tires. The Accelera Epsilon HT might be a tire from a brand you’ve not heard of before, but you probably will before long; Accelera is staking out a name for itself with tires that are capable and competent at the lower end of the price spectrum. The Epsilon HT is an overall great value in an all-season tire, even if you’re not on a bit of a budget.

So what is it about the tire that makes it a standout performer and good bang for the buck? Let’s go in a little closer with this Accelera Epsilon HT review:

    Features and Benefits

Here’s what the Accelera tire has within it to allow for solid performance year-round:

    • Directional all-season tread pattern with angled, sweeping grooves and circumferential grooves to cut through standing water and direct it behind the tire’s contact patch to resist hydroplaning on wet pavement
    • Durable rubber formulation for long, even wear and great braking, handling, and cornering performance
    • Triple block at the center of tread delivers great straight-line stability at highway speed and steering response
    • Shoulder blocks are reinforced for extra rigidity and minimal tread squirm during hard cornering
    • Tread pitch is computer tuned to cancel frequencies and keep road noise to a minimum
    • 5-year warranty period
    • Durable 10-ply rating for good load capacity
    • Tread pitch is randomized and computer tuned to cancel frequencies and keep road noise to a minimum

    Pros and Cons

So, is this the right tire for your ride and budget? Before you decide, let’s take a look at the tire’s strengths and weaknesses.

    PROS:

    • Car-like levels of ride quality, handling and low noise in a light truck tire
    • Steering response and cornering are sharp, predictable and consistent
    • Wet-weather performance is confident and reliable
    • More affordable than many of its competitors

    CONS:

    • Is not backed by a limited manufacturer tread life warranty
    • Not good for off-road driving
    • Should not be used in moderate to severe winter weather conditions

SimpleTire’s view on Accelera Epsilon HT tires

The Epsilon HT from Accelera is a tire that does most things well at an affordable price. The directional tread pattern does a great job of cutting through standing water on wet pavement (and also looks great on a truck or SUV), and ride quality is supple and forgiving. The Accelera Epsilon HT is composed and steady on the road, even on irregular pavement or over railroad tracks and potholes. Handling and steering response are direct and immediate without being touchy and jittery, and ride quality is more along the lines of what you’d expect from a Grand Touring tire for a premium sedan.

No, the Accelera Epsilon HT doesn’t do well off-road – it’s a highway terrain tire and off-road use isn’t what it’s designed for. It also doesn’t perform well in heavier winter weather; again, most all-season tires don’t do well in deep snow. And no, it doesn’t come with a tread life/mileage warranty, although a 5-year warranty against defects in manufacturing and workmanship is quite good. The Epsilon HT is a solid value, though, and stacks up surprisingly well against tires that cost much more.
