Introduced in1995, Westlake Tires is a brand made for the global tire market. Smart consumers seek out everyday value, and Westlake meets those needs with its unwavering dedication to a tire's ideal blend of performance, value, and quality. One of the leading tire producers in the world, WestLake Tires, offers a wide range of tires for passenger, performance, light truck, SUV, and CUV applications.

The Westlake RP18 is an all-season, touring tire that can suit smaller fitments on older vehicles. It is intended for use on sedans, coupes, minivans and crossovers.

But, is it the best tire for your car and your budget? Let's take a look at a review of Westlake RP18 to see if it's the right tire for you.

    Features and Benefits

Because of their smooth driving and quiet ride, many customers consider touring tires as they’re ideal for long-distance travel. Touring tires are tires that are specifically built for all of your driving needs. In addition, they feature improved wet and dry traction due to their all-season ratings and a longer tread life. You can decide if the Westlake RP18 tire is the one you need by learning about its features and benefits.

    • Boosted all-season traction: The tire promises strong all-season traction. Together, the symmetric tread pattern and all-season rubber compound improve grip in dry, rainy, and light winter weather conditions. The tire's resistance to hydroplaning further improves both traction and driving performance.

    • Improved wet traction and stability: Primary circumferential grooves and multiple lateral grooves actively remove water and slush from beneath the tire's footprint, considerably improving all-year driving performance.

    • Solid steering responsiveness: The tire’s maintained road contact is what gives it such exceptional controllability. Their continuous contact with the road surface enhances steering response time and precision. Both tread design and reduced tire profile enhance steering responsiveness.

    • Better handling: Vertical siping elements in the tread design improve driving stability by protecting the tire from the driving pressure that affects it. Shoulder tread block sequences and vertical sipes improve cornering and maneuvering force. Added to it, they provide a more dependable driving experience by gripping the road surface with more biting edges.

    • Longer tread life: The Radial RP18 promotes a longer tread life as the tire’s symmetric tread design distributes driving pressure equally over the tire surface. This balanced distribution of accelerating, turning, and braking forces prevents uneven wear forms on the tread area. Not to mention that, the tire's longer tread life and usability make it more cost effective.

    • Minimized road noise and maximized comfort: Variable pitch technology reduces noise and vibrations, which provides a quiet and comfortable ride

    Pros and Cons

So, is it a good fit for your sedans, coupes, minivans, or crossovers? Before giving our final opinion, let's first look at its Pros and Cons:

    • All-season tread pattern to boost dry, wet, and light winter weather traction.
    • Backed by a 45,000 mile limited manufacturer tread life warranty.
    • Four wide grooves to remove water and slush from the tread to reduce the risk of hydroplaning.
    • Symmetrical tread design to offer better handling
    • Angled grooves and sipes to boost all-season traction
    • Longer tread life
    • Quiet and comfortable drive

Despite having all of these features and benefits, the Westlake RP18 tire could be better in some areas, such as:

    • They might not perform well on icy roads, but this is expected from an all-season tire.
    • Road noise might be reduced
    • Fuel efficiency could be better

SimpleTire’s view on Westlake RP18 tires

If you're looking for a unique all-season, touring tire, the Westlake RP18 is a good choice. In comparison to the Sceptor 4XS and Laufenn G Fit AS LH41, the Westlake RP18 provides superior traction, handling, and performance all year.

Even though the Laufenn G Fit AS LH41 has a higher mileage warranty than the Westlake RP18 and Sceptor 4XS, the Westlake tire is more affordable and provides greater performance. Overall, the Westlake RP18 is a better choice for an all-season, touring tire due to its low price and excellent performance.

Vehicles the Westlake RP18 is a good replacement tire for

Westlake RP18 is ideal for sedans, coupes, minivans and crossovers. Although it is not used as original equipment, the Westlake RP18 is a great replacement tire for vehicles like the Nissan Sentra, Ford Explorer, Chrysler Sebring, Honda Accord, Honda CR-V, Honda Civic, Audi A6, BMW 328xi, Dodge Avenger ES, or Mitsubishi Outlander Sport.

Decent tire for the price. Didn't wanna spend money on super nice tires for my 98 accord. Ride quality is pretty good and they seem to grip pretty good in the Washington rain. On the 70 mph freeways. Got the whole set for my car and I have yet to loose grip when I start accelerating from a stop in the heavy rain.

Quiet tires. Great ride. Handles well on wet roads. Haven't had any snow in southeastern North Carolina yet this season but I think they will do well.

The tires are very cheap but effective tires. The delivery was early and the handled package was carefully placed on my door step! I easily put them on and they are still running perfect!
