SimpleTire’s view on Maxxis RAZR XT tires

Maxxis specializes in ATV/UTV tires, including everything from pro-level to beginner tires, from full-on mud tires to super-gummy and sticky ones for rock crawling. The Maxxis RAZR XT is a specialty tire for desert racing competition and is purpose-built for that application. Desert racing tends to be a full-tilt high-speed affair; although it has slower, trickier, and more technical stretches, the bulk is full throttle, and those vehicles need a tire that’s up to the job.

The Maxxis RAZR XT comes with a competition pedigree – it was the tire of choice for the 2021 King of the Hammers Desert Challenge UTV champion Kyle Chaney. You’ll notice in the Cons above that the RAZR XT doesn’t perform well in mud, loose dirt, or deep sand (like at a beach), and that’s not what it’s designed for. This tire excels in desert applications, with low and closely-spaced knobby lugs extending over the sidewall to grab at ruts and tracks in a desert course and get a great lateral grip to claw their way through.

The tread compound is a damage - and tear-resistant, optimized for the high temperatures and rough conditions on a desert race course. The rounded shoulder and optimized footprint mean a light and responsive steering feel and accurate and neutral cornering even when pushed to the very limit. Even with heavier, torquier, more powerful competition ATVs, there’s minimal wheelspin and short stopping distances even at high speeds.

If you’re serious about competition in the ATV racing world, you need a tire that’s as serious about it as you are. The Maxxis RAZR XT is tough as nails and designed to perform, getting you across the finish line and up to the podium in record time.
