  • If you’ve got a 4WD-equipped light truck or SUV, the best way to get the most out of your truck’s traction and performance is with a set of all-terrain tires. You’ll want tires that can reliably deliver traction and control in rough off-road conditions, but chances are you’ll also not want to compromise on ride quality, noise levels, road manners, and handling on the pavement.

The Gremax Max AT is an all-terrain tire that’s designed to offer the best of both worlds at a price point that won’t clean out your checking account. So what is it that we like so much about the tire? What makes it such a great performer and value? Let’s go in for a closer look at this Gremax Max AT review:

    Features and Benefits

Here are some of the things the Max AT has within it to allow for great performance:

    • Advanced rubber formulation is designed for traction, durability, long wear
    • Damage-resistant construction
    • Classic aggressive all-terrain tread pattern with robust tread blocks, and wide grooves to easily expel water from the tire’s contact patch and resist hydroplaning
    • Good self-cleaning of mud and debris so there’s always a clear section of tire to dig in as the wheel turns
    • The tread pitch is computer-tuned to help keep road noise low
    • Tiered groove design enhances wet-weather or winter traction
    • Radial construction with polyester casing, twin steel belts, nylon overlay
    • Solid center rib boosts road manners, straight-line stability, driver feedback, and steering response
    • Outlined white letter sidewall looks great on a variety of trucks and SUVs

    Pros and Cons

So, is this Gremax tire the right choice for your ride and budget? Before you decide, let’s take a look at the tire’s pros and cons:

    PROS:

    • Quiet and composed on the highway, as all-terrain tires go
    • Dependable and durable for off-road use
    • Affordable

    CONS:

    • The tire is not backed by a limited manufacturer tread life warranty
    • Not Three Peak Mountain Snowflake rated for severe winter service

SimpleTire’s view on Gremax Max AT tires

There are a lot of all-terrain tires on the market today, at every price point imaginable from ultra-cheap to pretty expensive premium tires. In most cases, they’re a caveat emptor, “you get what you pay for” equation, but the Gremax Max AT is an all-terrain tire that delivers value and performance that’s better than you might expect at its price.

The self-cleaning tread pattern of the Gremax AT means traction that’s tenacious and reliable in mud, sand, or snow. Tiered tread grooves make for more efficient evacuation of water from the tire’s contact patch and resistance to hydroplaning on wet pavement. The Gremax Max AT’s construction and tread formulation are designed to be able to stand up to rough use in off-road conditions, and of course that outlined white letter sidewall is a nice touch for any truck, Jeep, or SUV. While the Gremax Max AT doesn’t have the 3PMS rating for severe winter service, it’s a tire that’s plenty capable of handling snow and slush, and the tread formulation is designed to stay flexible in subfreezing weather (think about the behavior of a hockey puck on ice versus a nice pliable rubber-soled boot). If you’re on a budget and in need of a set of all-terrain tires, the Gremax Max AT is one you should take into consideration.
