  • Firestone Destination M/T2

There are a few types of off-road tires on the market, with all-terrain and mud-terrain being the most popular. Those drivers who routinely tackle trails, snow, and mud on SUVs and light trucks will need a set of tires that can handle difficult conditions.

Enter the Firestone Destination M/T2, which is specially designed to tackle severe off-road conditions that also include snow and ice. Go through the Firestone Destination M/T2 review to find out how it would meet your driving requirements.

    Features and Benefits

Drivers may be regularly crossing off-road territories like muddy patches on their vehicles every day, but do they always have the right tires? It is necessary for the tires to not just perform on unpredictable surfaces, but also last for a long time. Outlined white lettering or black letters on the sidewall fits the tire’s appearance perfectly and a tough construction ensures that heavy weights can be carried. The Firestone Destination M/T2 rating is high due to the following features and benefits:

    • Brand new rubber compound for superior performance
    • Aggressive upper sidewall lugs and a 3-ply sidewall construction for high traction in mud and for withstanding tremendous off-road abuse
    • Can be used with TSMI #16 or 17 studs, where permitted, for greater traction in severe snow and ice
    • Additional biting edges for great traction on wet, slick, and snowy surfaces
    • A high attack angle generates tremendous mud traction

    Pros and Cons

If you are looking for high average cornering force and little stopping distance, Firestone Destination M/T2 does not score as well as the Cooper Discoverer STT PRO. However, it did make up in the handling department by being consistent and you can check the others pros too:

    PROS

    • Firm and responsive steering
    • Resistant to chips and punctures
    • Self-cleaning properties for mud and rocks
    • Aggressive tread pattern allows them to climb over anything
    • Excellent dry and wet traction

    CONS

    • Despite being a studded mud tire, it is not suitable for use in heavy snow as it is not Three Peak Mountain Snowflake certified
    • Tire noise can be on the higher side over highways

    Firestone Destination M/T2

During the Firestone Destination M/T2 tire review, we found numerous features dedicated to enhancing traction on a variety of surfaces. Just because it is a mud-terrain tire doesn't mean that the manufacturer hasn’t thought about additional biting edges for wet and snowy areas. Customers who buy them swear by their all-round capabilities and love the even tread wear. Despite the tire noise being on the higher side for some, these tires have behaved in a civil manner even for individuals with low off-road use.

Remember this is a mud terrain so don't compare it to a highway tire. These tires are as quiet as my ko2's i had on the truck. They handle better in my opinion and grip excellent. Had them in deep snow and ice and they do fine with minimal wheel spin. Dig they will do for sure. Mud have never needed 4wd yet. Road manners are great with low noise for the category they are in. I like mud tires for trailer use off the pavement. I have no issues on ice or snow and honestly these pull in snow great. Buy them if you want a good mud tire and understand that a mud tire is completely different from other tires.

I have had these tires for almost 3 years and have put 70k miles on them rotation every other oil change and they still have about 30% tread left and they are all worn even with no cupping, but they do have minor cracks on them.
