If you’ve got a light truck or SUV that’s equipped with four wheel drive, all-terrain tires are a great, versatile choice. The thing is, though, all-terrain tires can’t do it all. If you’re the kind of driver who likes to get into the deep, sticky mud or heavy snow, all-terrain tires are likely to just not quite be able to get the job done for you. That’s when mud-terrain tires come in. Mud-terrain tires are designed with a more aggressive lug tread pattern and extra-tough construction and materials for rough terrain and nasty mud, sand, or snow.
That’s where the Comforser CF300 comes in. The tire delivers solid, dependable traction in some of the worst off-road conditions, and is built to be able to stand up to rough use and punishing terrain. Don’t believe us? Let’s take a closer look with this Comforser CF300 review:
Features and Benefits
Here are some of the features and innovations that make the Comforser CF300 a strong performer in offroad use:
- Advanced, premium rubber compound is engineered to resist punctures, scuffs, cuts, chips, and abrasions
- Aggressive lug tread pattern with high void ratio between lugs and tread blocks
- Good self-cleaning of mud, dirt, stones, debris so there’s always a clear section of tire to dig in as the wheel turns
- Non-directional tread with large shoulder blocks for stability
- Extra-deep 19/32” tread depth means long wear and great traction
- Wraparound lugs at shoulder extend down onto the sidewall for enhanced lateral traction, making it easier to claw out of ruts and deep mud
- 10 ply rating for improved load capacity
- Can be used aired-down for rock crawling
- Three Peak Mountain Snowflake rated for severe winter service
- Tread pitch is randomized and computer tuned to keep road noise low by canceling certain frequencies
- Double ply sidewall for damage resistance
- 3-year warranty against defects in manufacturing and workmanship
Pros and Cons
So, is this the right tire for your ride and budget? Before you decide, let’s take a look at the tire’s strengths and weaknesses:
PROS:
- Strong traction in rough conditions, deep mud
- Three Peak Mountain Snowflake certified
- Durable rubber compound and construction
- Easy for tire shops to balance
CONS:
- No tread life coverage or mileage warranty
- Noisy on pavement as the tire wears down
- Not the most fuel efficient tire
SimpleTire’s view on Comforser CF300 tires
Put simply, the Comforser CF3000 is the kind of tire that you can depend on to get you there and back if you’re heading to the backcountry. The tough lug tread pattern with extra-deep tread depth delivers strong traction in mud or loose dirt, and the durable rubber formulation means you’re not likely to get stranded with a flat tire. The Three Peak Mountain Snowflake rating is also a big plus, and something that you’re not always going to find on mud-terrain tires. The point about balancing doesn’t seem like such a big thing, but tire shops often have a hard time getting proper balance with these tires (especially oversize mud-terrain tires), leading to vibration and drivability problems.
Admittedly, the Comforser tire can become noisy on some pavement surfaces (a common problem with mud-terrain tires), and it’s not covered by a mileage warranty (many mud-terrain tires aren’t). Still, the Comforser CF300 is a strong, capable tire in a category that’s dominated by tires that cost much, much more.
