General Tire was founded in Akron, Ohio in 1915, and manufactures tires for coupes, sedans, minivans, CUVs, SUVs, Jeeps, pickup trucks, racing cars, and even commercial vehicles. General's tire families include the Grabber tires for light trucks, G-Max performance tires, and Altimax tires for sedans, minivans, and crossovers. In 1955, General was selected to supply Original Equipment tires to General Motors and various other automobile manufacturers, and in 1959, their research team developed the world's largest tire testing track in Uvalde, Texas. In 1987, General Tire was acquired by Continental AG.
