Ford Aerostar Tires

Introduced in 1986, the Aerostar was Ford’s first minivan; it borrowed many components from the Ford Ranger pickup and was available with all-wheel drive in later generations. While the Aerostar may have been behind the curve with a RWD truck-based layout, it was also the first minivan to be powered exclusively by V6 engines and the first to offer AWD drivetrains. Despite a rather old-fashioned design, the Aerostar used extensive weight-saving technology such as an aluminum driveshaft and wheels and plastic fuel tank, hood, and liftgate doors, with fuel economy that was comparable to a lot of small cars of the time. Interestingly, the Aerostar was named Truck of the Year by Motor Trend in 1990. The Aerostar was available in Base, XL, XLT, XLT Plus, and Eddie Bauer trim levels. Ford announced the discontinuation of the Aerostar in 1994, but consumer outcry intervened and it was sold concurrently with the Windstar minivan until 1997.
